Unlikely but possibl: There are blood borne diseases that can be spread by anything with infected blood that penetrates your skin. There are a lot of studies that assess that risk, and solid needles are very unlikely to spread disease. It is still important to not expose yourself to that risk. Keep in mind that the pins would have to penetrate deep enough to draw blood to be infective. ...Read more

They tell you: Most often, the people need to be tested for std's and then it is really there moral and ethical obligation to tell you they have an std if you are a sexual partner of theirs. None (OK maybe one): No nasty diseases. Common bacteria can enter through breaks in the skin and cause infection(impetigo and cellulitis). Avoid scratching as that can introduce the bacteria. Oral antihistamines (Benadryl) and topical corticosteroids (cortisone) are helpful. If you live in rural New Mexico, Arizona, CA or Colorado there are rare cases of plague from infected rodent flea bites(squirrels, prairie dogs). ...Read more
