See your doctor: A medication is available to help with protein loss in the kidney. You need to see your doctor for a prescription.

Albumin (Definition)

Albumins are proteins which dissolve in water and are not covered with chains of sugars. The most common is serum albumin. These molecules transport other molecules which don't dissolve in water very well. But its main function is to regulate the amount of water in the blood. Another type of Albumin is the ...Read more

Of 3 tests on different days albumin/creatinine ratio was 37.77, 34.09, & 36.87. I am healthy and exercise often. Is this kidney damage?

Borderline: Ratios are sometimes not the best measure. You may wish to get 24 urine protein level done to establish if you have proteinuria. See this site for more info. Http://nkdep. Nih. Gov/resources/quick-reference-uacr-gfr-508.pdf

My albumin/creatinine ratio, ur standard range is 30 mine was 113.8 11/29/13 now as of 4/10/14 its 78.4 I don't have hbp or diabets what could the be. Is it a good sign my numbers went down?

Yes, improvement: See: http://en. Wikipedia. Org/wiki/microalbuminuria which has been promoted as an pre-obvious dm ; kidney failure warning. Dm is defined as a hba1c of 6.5% yet optimal healthy is 5.0% ; type 2 dm develops over several decades, not sudden onset. Recommend get NMR lipoprotein ir score which predicts dm by up to 20 years in advance ; optimizing lipoproteins to abnormally healthy highly desirable.

What does"unable to calculate albumin/creatinine ratio as the concentration of microalbin is less than the lower limit of the analytical range" mean?

UA test result: The long-worded result you describe indicates that there is no "microalbumin" in the urine tested. That is good news. The presence of protein in the urine is an ominous finding.

Random sample: urine protein 31mg/l urine albumin 5.00mg/l urine creatinine 3.894mmol/l urine albumin creatinine:ratio 1.3mg/mmol is this normal?

Is this a test?: Slight variation in the reports from different laboratories does exist. So, please refer to the attached normal range for interpretation. I'm sure there is such information for you to reconcile. If any doubt, talk and confirm with the attending doctor. Best. ..

Chances for a 60 yr m with single diabetic kidney (albumin creatinine ratio 139) with tight glucose and BP control ending in renal failure? Roughly?

Chances for a 60 yr m with single diabetic kidney (albumin creatinine ratio 139) with tight glucose and BP control ending in renal failure? Roughly?

Chances: Your elevated albumin/creatinine ratio indicates that you have proteinuria. You should ask you physician to send you to a nephrologist for a 24 hour urine for creatinine clearance and proteinuria (p). Patients who have higher levels of p, have a higher incidence of renal, cardiac and neurological complications than those with lower p. Drugs that lower BP and p are ace-i's and arb's. Ask your md.

My micoalbumin is 555 but my Bun/Creatinine ratio is normal and my Serum Albumin is normal. I am diabetic. What does 555 mean? Is it kidney failure?

My micoalbumin is 555 but my Bun/Creatinine ratio is normal and my Serum Albumin is normal. I am diabetic. What does 555 mean? Is it kidney failure?

Diabetic nephropathy: B"sd kidney failure is marked by elevation of creatinine. Microalbumin is a sensitive test for early kidney changes seen in diabetes and hypertension. Unless very high, standard albumin will be normal. Fatty liver is of concern but not directly related. To prevent progression of kidney disease 1. control of diabetes 2. blood pressure control 3. ACE or ARB agent. Glad to discuss

Husb micoalbumin is 596. BUN/Creatinine level is normal. Serum Albumin norm. He's diabetic & has fatty liver. Is he in kidney failure? Why micro high?

My micro albumin/ Creatinine urine ratio is high at 40.4. But my micro albumin is 12.0 and my creatinine is 29.7, both low. So is it really "high"?

Ratio's: A ratio depends on if one number is higher or lower than the norm so if one is off then, being high or low, will make the ratio be off. Not sure what the norm ratios for the lab u are using are, but usually a Urine MA above 3 is high.

You don't!: A low albumin/creatinine ratio is a good thing! As the level rises, that means the amount of Albumin you are spilling into your urine is abnormal, and could need treatment. This is called "microalbuminuria".

Not abnormal: You are not losing too much protein in urine and this function of your kidney is normal. You may consult this site for more info: http://www. Niddk. Nih. Gov/health-information/health-communication-programs/nkdep/a-z/quick-reference-uacr-gfr/Documents/quick-reference-uacr-gfr-508.pdf

Blood test RBC 4.07, Hemoglobin 129 Hematocrit 0.385 Monocytes 1.1 GFR 57 Alkaline Phosphatase 39 Also Urine Albumin/Creatinine 6.7?

Need more info: Trying to give you a "heads up" on the implications of these values is like knowing the full story of a book by just reading the table of contents. The best person to give you insight about what these lab values mean is the physician who ordered them and knows a lot about your general health and background.

Total protein 8.3, serum albumin 4.2, serum globulin 3.8, albumin globulin ratio 1.2. Is this abnormal?

Abnormal labs: It would be helpful that for the labs mentioned above. If you. Can find the normal range or reference range and list it than our answer can be more educated and helpful. The reference range does vary from one lab to another.

My serum albumin is 5.3 is that to high? Always was normal. Is there any way to bring it down?

No need to: If you were dehydrated your albumin may seem high, even though yours is at the upper end of normal. If the tourniquet is left on for too long, it may cause a spurious high reading. There are no disease associated with high albumin. See this site for more info. Http://www. Nlm. Nih. Gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003480.htm

My 10 months old son has a serum albumin of 4.7 g/dl, should I get concerned??

Junior's fine: If he seems well, be thankful for good health. Even if that were out-of-range, these reference ranges are set so that several percent of healthies fall outside.

What is the connection between thalassemia and serum albumin concentrations?

What is the connection between thalassemia and serum albumin concentrations?

Blood: Thalassemia affects the red blood cell to cause anemia. Albumin is also a blood product and may be lower if anemia is present.

What could be the significance of low serum albumin in respiratory failure patient?

What could be the significance of low serum albumin in respiratory failure patient?

Protien malnutrition: Albumen is an acute phase reactant and it is difficult to interpret well in the critically ill. That being said, very low albumen can indicate protein malnutrition, making it more difficult to heal wounds, makes drug delivery less reliable (some drugs bind to albumen for transport), make pulmonary edema harder to treat... The list is long. For that reason, we generally feed patients earlier now.
