Was taking olanzapine and they give me muscle spasms everywhere! They said it wasn't that what caused it! Could sertraline get rid of muscle spasms?

Was taking olanzapine and they give me muscle spasms everywhere! They said it wasn't that what caused it! Could sertraline get rid of muscle spasms?

Not likely: Olanzapine muscle spasms are often due to the effects of Olanzapine on dopamine. Sertraline would not help this problem. You should talk to your doctor, first because you want someone to assess the kind of muscle spasm you were having, and second so that your doctor can suggest the appropriate thing to do. ...Read more

No insurance until next month but need refills on sertraline, am having withdrawal, tried walk in clinic and couldn't prescribe it, what should I do?

Establish care: Due to the need for monitoring of that medication, the safest thing would be to establish care with a primary care physician or psychiatrist. It would be imprudent and unwise for a physician to prescribe that medication blindly without follow up, which is why it could not be prescribed in the walk in clinic. ...Read more

No don't do that: Get checked out. Make sure your thyroid is not overactive, If thyroid test is negative find out what is causing your problem. (May need to see the gastroenterologist) Usually constant diarrhea is not from the medication but this may need to be ruled out as well (serotonergic syndrome). ...Read more

Does ashwagandha work for panic attacks? Used daily? Can it be used while taking sertraline, or during weening off sert?

No: Ashwagandha is a common herb in ayurvedic medicine. It has a variety of uses -- much to do with adapting to stress. Some use it for anti-anxiety properties, but it does not have research supporting any prevention of panic attacks. There are no conflicts between it and sertraline -- but there could be with benzos. Is it safe to take sertraline and mirtazapine together help please as have been taken both x?

If prescribed, yes: Sometimes psychiatrists do use this combination, especially when someone is having a big problem with sleep along with anxiety/depression. If prescribed, your doctor will be keeping a watch on the doses and any potential signs of serotonin overload. Generally mirtazepine will be at a lower dose than the zoloft (sertraline). Please don't do this on your own, though. ...Read more

A lot: Sertraline, which is the generic name for zoloft (sertraline), (sertraline) can cause hypertension and other things in overdose. I am not aware of any completed suicides that can be attributed to zoloft (sertraline) alone. In short, too many for you to swallow; you will probably throw up and get diarrhea; you may get high blood pressure. If you are actually thinking of suicide you should call your doctor, go to the er or call 911. ...Read more

Would sam-e be any good with Zoloft (sertraline) 200mg a day?

Would sam-e be any good with Zoloft (sertraline) 200mg a day?

Caution.: Sam-e is a naturally occuring precursor to serotonin, and taking it can lead to increased levels of serotonin. It is proving to be an effective treatment for depression, though the doses when taken alone are probably in the range of 1600 mg daily. When taken with a med like zoloft, (sertraline) one runs the risk of developing serotonin syndrome (flushing, diarrhea, palpitations, agitation). I advise caution. ...Read more

I have been taking sertraline and sam-e (several hours apart).I've noticed a positive change in my mood, but I read that it can be unsafe to take both. Is it true?

Possible, not clear: The mechanism of sam-e (methyl donor for important physiological processes including neurotransmitter metabolism) seems to differ from that of sertraline (inhibiting reuptake of serotonin back into the neuron). However with sam-e, levels of serotonin metabolites & others can increase. Http://www. Ncbi. Nlm. Nih.
