I had laparoscopy, and they removed a 12cm ovarian serous cyst and a 6cm ovarian dermoid. What s a serous cyst? Would it have gone away on its own?
No: A simple cyst has a very specific benign appearance, while a cystadenocarcinoma usually has characteristics that are pathognomonic for a complex mass. A benign hemorrhagic cyst may resemble a worrisome cystadenoca. If you are worried about an ovarian cyst, talk to your doctor. You can do an ultrasound in 4-6 weeks. If it is a cancer, it will not be the same size or have the same characteristics. ...Read more
Ovarian cyst dermoid or serous cystadenoma can be tested with small part for complete pathologic analysis?
Unfortunately Not: The problem with ovarian tumors is that you can have normal cell types adjacent to borderline or malignant cells. The ovary is notorious for hiding cancer cells which is why it's impossible to "eyeball" or sample an ovary and get a complete diagnosis. That's why often the ovary is completely removed if malignancy is suspected. Cancer can also increase in stage if spillage occurs so it's not easy. ...Read more
If my roma test is negative why do I still have to see a gynocologist/oncologist for removal of a 7.1 complex ovarian cyst may be serous or municous. I am postmenopausal so the test is 100% right.?
Ovarian cyst: Correct me if I am wrong. I think you are referring to ova-1 test. The test is designed to evaluate the possibility of benign vs malignant cyst. It is not 100% right. The purpose of the test is trying to designate who should be your surgeon, your gynecologist who usaully treat benign disease or your oncologist. ...Read more

I had a 27cm ovarian cyst filled with reddish brown fluid. What causes a cyst fill with fluid opposed to tissue? What's the difference in symptoms?
Cyst: A cyst by definition is a fluid filled sac. In the ovary you can have solid tumors (benign and cancerous), mixed solid and cystic and just cystic (fluid filled). Each growth is a tissue type, which is the key to what type you get. You probably had a serous (fluid type) cystadenoma or an endometrioma (bloody fluid filled cyst) ...Read more

You need surgery: You have a large cyst. Most cyst at your age are benign. However they can become very large and depending on the surgeon you my end up with a huge scar. Also cyst this size can twist on its pedicle( torsion). This is a surgical emergency. You might have a serous or mucinous-cysadenoma, or a dermoid cyst. Ultrasound should help to give clue what he is dealing with. I would favor laparoscopic surger. ...Read more
