See Surgeon.: Best to be seen by your surgeon who is in the position to accurately diagnose and advise treatment for the “large mass”. If it is a residual "mass" from a hematoma, time and the use of warm compresses may be all that is necessary. Sometimes, aspiration or drainage may be necessary. It will be important to rule out (physical examination) recurrence of the hernia. Best wishes. Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers

New swelling 3 months after inguinal hernia repair. 5 doctors and an ultrasound confirm no recurrence or new hernia. What is causing the swelling?
Seroma?: Could be a fluid collection under the skin (seroma), but that usually develops within about 3 weeks post-op, and subsides in 3-6 months. If the hernia was in the scrotum, fluid could be collecting there, mimicking hydrocele. Make sure to see the original surgeon, and consider a second opinion by a surgeon interested in inguinal hernia repair - check the americas hernia society website to find one. Read more
Fever at 103.7, 2weeks after inguinal hernia repair. Fever has stayed for 7days. At ER I did not test positive for flu, other test were normal. Cause?
Talk to Surgeon ASAP: There are many possible causes of a postop fever, but the one most concerning after your operation would be a wound infection (esp if mesh was used). Should I go to the ER if I'm having pain in my testicles, 3 days after inguinal hernia repair. Please answer I'm worried about this.
Is pain in testicles right before ejaculation normal 4 days after inguinal hernia repair? I had to stop bc I could not continue with sharp pain. Thx
Inform surgeon: I would inform the surgeon who performed the repair. Swelling and tenderness is not unusual this early after surgery. To some degree, I am surprised that the surgeon would have permitted sex this early after surgery as it could result in wound disruption. Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Six weeks after inguinal hernia repair return to work with a job of constant lifting should I expect some swelling in the scrotum area? How to preven
Scrotal support: Thanks for your question. I think the most likely cause of scrotal swelling is due to the surgery and should slowly subside. A scrotal support might help the process of healing. If the swelling should increase, become painful, or red call your surgeon and describe what is happening. I predict it will improve and return to normal. Remember to lift as little as posssible.
