Can undissolved stiches cause some discomfort numbness, stiffened tip & base of nose after a septoplasty/inferior turb surgery? I'm 14 days post.
You can expect swelling after an extensive septal surgery; sutures that were placed can accentuate it somewhat, but the majority is likely related to the surgery itself.
Close followup with your surgeon is necessary so he/she can help manage the swelling in the postoperative period. ...Read more
What would cause the inside of nostril to be thickened? This is inside the nose, at the bulbous part (lateral). Am 3 wks post-septoplasty.
Can septoplasty/turbinate reduction cause apnea-like symptoms (gasping for air at night) for a couple of weeks after surgery due to stopped nose?
Yes: Septoplasty and turbinate reduction can cause apnea like symptoms in the postoperative period. The nasal passage is usually swollen following surgery. This can result in mouth breathing. Remember that apnea means the breathing stops for ten seconds or more. True apnea is more likely to happen in someone that may be predisposed to it. The blockage following surgery is temporary. ...Read more
What could cause continuing pain, pressure and difficulty breathing in nose 3.5 months after septoplasty? Recent CT shows no infection.
Persisted deviation: If the primary reason for septoplasty was deviated septum, or correction of collapsed septum, the deformity may have persisted or recurred. It could be a chronic septal hematoma or may be internal valve problem. Your best course is to go back to your original surgeon for help, or fiind another one who can help you. ...Read more
Had FESS & septoplasty on 19th. Had bilateral sphenoid sinus which caused head heaviness. I still sometimes have similar head heaviness. I am scared.

Just had a Septoplasty on 7/23 with Submucosal Resection, was able to breathe in through nostril 1 day post-op; as of 2 hours ago feels unable to breathe in through the nostrils at all. Is this a cause for concern?
Depends: Depends if you mean immediately after, or in the weeks following. Usually nose is packed immediately. So nothing to do except keep outside clean with q-tips and saline. Ask your ENT surgeon for specific instructions in your case. Depends on many factors. ...Read more

About half of my INTs were removed during a sx I had 3 years ago for septoplasty. Am I at risk for worsening of dryness and Empty Nose Syndrome?
Doubtful: That problem would likely have presented itself already, if you are 3 years out from surgery. If there's some dryness then you have to moisturize with nasal saline mist or gel. There are other products like GeloNasal that can help you. You usually need to have a lot more tissue removed to have empty nose syndrome. See your ENT for help for more help. ...Read more
Unlikely: It would be very unusual for conventional septoplasty performed for blockage of breathing to result in a change in the appearance of the nose. However, in some cases, septoplasty alone may not relieve the blockage and cosmetic changes may be required in order to improve the nasal breathing. This is called "septorhinoplasty" or commonly a "nosejob". ...Read more

Had septoplasty 2 weeks ago, hit my nose today at the top, not really hard, it hurt only a min and there's a small bump come up, not painful, worried.
See your doctor: See your treating doctor for a look at the septal surgery site to see if any shift or damage of the septal position might have occurred. This is just smart precaution, particularly considering that swelling typically results from such a blow, which may not have damaged your repair. ...Read more
