Can be: Usually after a month my patients who undergo septoplasty (and almost always some type of turbinate reduction surgery) are 90% healed and breathing great. Give it another few weeks and if you are still congested see you doctor. If not happy with what he or she says then get another opinion.

How long after septoplasty can I go out in public? I've read that recovery from septoplasty is a few weeks. Is that for full recovery, or is that how long I have to wait before it's healed enough that I can go back to work or out to dinner? .

If: If you're only having a septoplasty you can probably go back to work after a few days. The recovery depends on your pain tolerance and whether your surgeon uses any packs/splints in the nose. I try to avoid using packs or splints as that usually helps reduce the amount of discomfort after surgery.
