I have a cyst in the left adnexal area that is 2.8 x 2.5 cm with mixed fluid and hypoechoic densities? What precautions do I take if it bursts?
Ovarian cyst: A 2.8 cm cyst is normal for most women, it's probably where you ovulated from, and the mixed densities are old blood. This probably will not burst, so there are no precautions to take. We get concerned with ovarian cysts that are greater than 5 cm or solid, these type need to be followed up on. ...Read more

The bowel: Does not cause a problem on CT. Mass: So adnexal refers to the location, near one of the ovaries. Some masses can be cystic or fluid filled. Some can have solid tumor in them. Some can contain parts of both. However, there are many more specific ways to describe a mass that ...Read more

MRI can be helpful to firm up the diagnosis of endometrioma and be an adjunct to ultrasound. MRI may find other lesions.
