Throat itching: Greetings. The throat itching may be from an allergic reaction. Your airway is obviously stable and I'm assuming swallowing is normal. An antihistamine such as Claritin, Allegra or Zyrtec may help. Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will work fastest but may cause drowsiness. See your doctor. Sore throat: For significantly sore throat w swollen tonsils / lymph nodes – see physician ; get a strep throat test ; culture. Antibiotics are imperative for strep throat. Try saltwater gargles. Mix tsp of salt in 8 oz of warm water – gargle w this several times/day. You can gargle w aloe vera juice a couple of times per day. Depends....: If it is from the airways, it may be a sign of acute bronchitis, an infection of the airways. It may have originated from your sinuses and be a result of post-nasal drip which may indicate a sinus infection. Throat dryness can certainly be irritating and trigger a cough reflex. Very possible: It's very possible that you have been exposed to a virus. Watch your symptoms for increased fever, and other worsening signs of a more significant illness. Cough and PND: Hello, yes dehydration is a common cause of throat irritation from less moisture in the saliva coating of the throat. This could trigger a cough and throat tickle. Common causes of dehydration would be sleep disorders, dryness due to medications, sjogren's disease and lack of water intake.
