Better way to detect: Hemoglobin-A1c which reflects average glucose over last 2-3 months; optimal ?5.0% (though ADA defines DM as >6.5% & recommends treatment to 7.0%). ...Read more

Skin rash?: I can't say what you're feeling, but for sure it isn't hair growing back that quickly. Why can't you wear shorts? If the skin on your legs has a rash or looks abnormal, discuss it with your doctor, or perhaps see a dermatologist. This should be easy to diagnose and perhaps fix. Good luck! ...Read more

Sensitive painful hard lump on my left leg just below my knee on the left side of my calf... Any ideas of what it could be?

I've been getting random pains across my body on and off and my skin seems really sensitive to pain and when I have a shower my legs go purple/red.

The purplish/reddish: color suggests this has something to do with the vascular or blood vessel system. An inflammation of blood vessels called vasculitis could account for these symptoms. I would start with your primary care physician and possibly see a vascular medicine specialist. Specialzed tests and exams will likely be needed to sort this out. All the best:) ...Read more

Will applying rubbing alcohol to my legs before shaving help avoid razor bumps? What can else can I do? I have very sensitive skin

Will applying rubbing alcohol to my legs before shaving help avoid razor bumps? What can else can I do? I have very sensitive skin

Unlikely: Razor bumps are due to irritation from shaving and ingrown hairs. Rubbing alcohol can dry out the skin and irritate sensitive skin even more. Try a fresh blade, shaving in direction of hair growth, use a thin layer of shaving cream, and gently exfoliate periodically. Sometimes depilatories or laser hair removal & not shaving at all gives the best relief & prevention! ...Read more
