I actually tell my: patients to apply it neck down in the shower and leave on for 20 minutes then wash off. They should do that daily for two weeks then the scale should be gone and they can expose their skin to sunlight ( 10 minutes only a day and no burning) which will repigment the skin. No selenium sulfide: There are other similar shampoos with different active ingredients. Avoid the selenium found in selsun blue and try Head and Shoulders or Neutrogena Tgel if you have dandruff, or a mild shampoo like dove if you do not. ...Read more

Trial and error,: There is no rhyme or reason to the sensitivity you are experiencing. Many patients allergic to sulfa will react to Selsun. Dove is fairly mild. Neutogena is mild and non-allergenic and many of my patients have done well with Zinc products. A trial of Zincon shampoo may be helpful. If these don't work see your physician or Dermatologist for other options. Good luck and good hair. ...Read more
