Why do I sometimes see "floaty" things in my eyes? I wear contacts, but it seems like they're there even when my contacts are out. No pain or irritation; just curious what i could be seeing and whether it's a sign of a potential problem (or that i'm not
Floaters: Floaters are thickenings in the vitreous jelly inside the eye. They are common with age, myopia, inflammation, trauma, and other issues. They are benign and do not damage your vision. Rarely, they can cause retinal tears which may require laser treatment. Otherwise, no treatment is needed. In very rare cases, the floaters can become dense enough to block vision and may need surgical removal. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Can visual disturbances, like things moving that are inanimate, be another symptom of MS that my gp is trying to diagnose? I haven't mentioned it yet
Advice: If there is any question of MS, see a neurologist, as this is not the domain of a primary care physician. The perception of moving objects may represent a problem within the vestibular system, but could also be a sign of PALINOPSIA, due to a focal brain lesion. Ask for a referral to a neurologist. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

VERTIGO W/U: Vertigo W/U must be very through. You need full exam&Labs. Especially focused NEURO exam to check for nystagmus . If it appears Post-Viral or BPV. A short course of steroids may help. OTC PRoducts may help as well. I recommend Antivert (meclizine). If SX Persia or worsen, a CT SCAN AND ENT&NEURO CONSULT may be warranted. Also follow a gluten free low salt diet. Is ms common and would I know if I had it worried I have lots symptoms but dr say anxiety here lately thigh numb n legs bother me worried ms or neuro?
Not common but...: MS is not common as less than 1 in 1100 people get it, but that doesn't mean you don't have it. Anxiety might cause some of the symptoms but you deserve careful evaluation by a neurologist. A brain MRI may show evidence. But be aware that Lyme disease is MUCH more common than MS and often has symptoms that mimic MS so I advise seeing a "Lyme-literate" doctor as well: http://tinyurl.com/j8vleow ...Read more

Been having a lightheaded feeling not like u pass out but weird n weird vision 6 yrs would this be inner ear neuro my drs say anx sym 24/7?
Probably not: Usually when someone has an inner ear disease, they do not feel "lightheaded" but feel vertigo instead. Vertigo is described more like a spinning sensation where it is difficulty to maintain your balance or you may feel motion sick. Oftentimes it is triggered by certain positions of the head, and will calm down if you keep your head still and doesn't cause weird vision. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

When waking I see a black spider shape that's not really there. I've seen eye specialist and had MRI of brain, all normal. What could b causing this?
Called 'Floaters': It's not a spider but a reflection of the changes to your vitreous humor in the eye that causes small linear shadows on the retina that the brain sees as hair-like or spidery, and it's benign. It just happens to be in your vision, so it's more apparent, especially against a lighter background. No spiders in the eyes! Thank Goodness! ...Read more

I've been randomly seeing little lights or things that look like glitters floating everything dims for a few moments. What could this be? I feel crazy
Your symptoms can be: one or two separate issues. Flashes of light seen in a dark room may be due to vitreous pulling the retina causing retinal traction, tears, breaks or even detachments and should be evaluated. Lights seen in a zig-zag fashion may be from visual aura known as a 'scintillating scotoma" and is associated with a variation of migraine headaches. This as well can be evaluated. ...Read more

Eyeglasses?: Could it be as simple as vision test for Rx or new Rx? Also, if you take medication for the anxiety - it could be a side effect. But yes, anxiety has become the 'usual suspect' for pretty much everything we feel and don't like. Both the actual chemicals involved that have wide ranging effects on body systems and our expectancies for symptoms are powerful.
