Is hCG diet safe for me?I'm a case if ovarian cancer stage 3, had total hysterectomy and chemo in 2007.I've read that it can trigger another cancer.

Don't worry: This is an extreme calorie restricted diet -- which is the only reason it works -- and you also spend a chuck of money for a placebo "hcg". I am glad you seems to have had a favorable outcome with your tumor and hope you will improve the quality of your survival by taking an interest in real physical fitness, not fad diets. You deserve the best -- give yourself this gift. ...Read more

Is it safe to use the hCG diet?I am a case of ovarian cancer stage 3, had total hysterectomy and 6 cycles chemo last 2007.I'm 5 feet tall, 67 kilos.

Yes: I will probably take heat for this but I am one of those doctors that believes in the HCG diet. I've not seen any patient have trouble or deleterious health effects from this weight loss. If followed, weight loss does occur. Most gain their weight back afterwards because they don't follow a maintenance plan for the 3 weeks after finishing hcg. If you do, the weight stays off. ...Read more

It's more than 12 weeks post-surgery for stage 3 ovarian cancer. Is it too late to benefit from chemotherapy?

Unknown: Most oncologists prefer to treat patients with a malignancy like ovarian cancer within 12 weeks from their diagnosis. At 12 weeks post surgery you are right on the edge. However, i think most oncologists would want to treat you because of the nature of ovarian cancer. You should have restaging studies with a ct scan as well. Definitely ask your oncologist, as there are many variable here. ...Read more

What does aggressive mean in ovarian cancer without chemo treatment ?

What does aggressive mean in ovarian cancer without chemo treatment ?

More dangerous: There are several dozen distinct types of ovarian cancer, and even within the types, there are subgroups that are more or less like to spread rapidly, invade surrounding structures more quickly, and/or spread to remote sites. The types will guide treatment, and some of the more aggressive tumors also respond especially well. Good luck -- i'll be thinking of you. ...Read more

High Risk: It sounds like she has had a good respons but she is high risk. You need to continue to have her monitored no matter what the numbers show. Her risk of recurrence is high just based on the staging. Her oncologist is the expert in this field. Support gourps may help as well. Good luck. ...Read more

I have an ovarian cancer, was on chemo for 4 months, now am cancer free but now my left hip is in much pain (had both hip replacements few years ago).?

Check it: I agree with dr. T. Hopefully your pain is due to arthritis or other bone-joint issues but pain in a cancer patient (particularly if always on the same spot or if worsens with time) should be properly evaluated to rule out metastases. ...Read more

Can there be any alternative medicine for ovarian cancer rather than chemotherapy?

No, not really: Alternative medicines, if suggested by someone are not likely to be useful. Chemotherapy is the only choice for controlling advanced ovarian cancer. If there are concerns about side effects, they can be controlled and managed by your oncologist. So do not hesitate taking chemotherapy. It would do some and often much good for the patient. ...Read more
