Upper back pain, slight curve in spine. Chiropractor says I need 40+ session. Second opinion? Please see xray: http://tinypic. Com/r/f4oetj/5
Second opinion yes:
Nice idea to show us the xray very useful
not a very bad curve in a 38 year old person I would definitely seek another opinion
upper back pain can be very hard to treat
but is not usually indicative of serious pathology and I would tend to doubt that the curve has much to do with it / seek out an orthopedic spine specalist perhaps best of luck with this problem. ...Read more
For the past year I have felt shortness of breath that comes and goes. Had a clear chest xray a 6 months ago. Should I get second opinion? Lung cancer
I'm very concerned and need a second opinion on my daughter's scapula x-ray. She has a bone poking out from her back that is bothersome.
Doctor can evaluate: A pediatrician or pediatric orthopedist can evaluate to see what bone (if it's a bone) is poking out of her back. Sometimes, a child has the normal bones and muscles, but one part of a bone is just too big or sticks out too far. Sometimes, a child is missing a muscle (or it's too small), and causes a bone to stick out or look like it sticks out. A bone that "sticks out" may also run in the family. ...Read more
How do I go about getting a second opinion of X-Ray results if I don't agree with the findings of my primary care doctor?
Xray results: First, your doctor ordered the xray, but xray findings are those of a radiologist reading the film. Your primary doctor interprets those findings and make treatment recommendations. That said, the xray belongs to you and you may request an appointment and evaluation with another physican who can with your permission request films. However, the radiologist makes findings, the doctor only interprets ...Read more
Can Oral Surgeon X - ray show if there is any nerve damage after the procedure? Going for Second opinion to oral surgeon.
An x ray will not show nerve damage as there are basically 5 densities on an x ray: metal, bone, soft tissue, fat and air. Nerves get lost with all other soft tissues.
MRI research using diffusion weighted imaging is just starting to directly see pathology in peripheral nerves. Nerve damage otherwise is a clinical diagnosis. Often nerves regenerate slowly, so don't feel hopeless. ...Read more

Dr. Says he thinks I have IBS or diverticulitis. I was hoping for some kinda xray or ultrasound. Still have some dull pain. Shud I get 2nd opinion?
Probably, since...: ...there is a huge difference between IBS (a functional process) and diverticulitis (an inflammatory one). The differential diagnosis requires clarification so appropriate treatment can begin for either of these entities, or maybe an entirely unrelated third condition. If uncertain your present practitioner can assist further, seek help elsewhere. ...Read more

12 year old daughter knee injured, xray showed "crack" doctor said normal for child. Swollen, sore, can't bear weight. How long wait for 2nd opinion?
Why wait?: If you are not comfortable/confident in what the first doctor has advised you then you should get a second option as soon as you can comfortably get one. There is no reason to wait. If the first doctor was not a pediatric orthopedist then you defiantly need a second option from a pediatric orthopedist. There are several on long island. ...Read more

Stress fracture- 3rd met.- 17 weeks boot, crutches. X-ray- not healed, pain, but specialist says walk normally, no boot. Is that okay or 2nd opinion?
Ask, and receive.: It seems hard to believe that an experienced specialist would have you walk on your foot, if he believed that your foot wasn't healed. The decision of healing, after 17 weeks, may take more verification than a x-ray can show. Seventeen weeks can be frustrating for both you and the specialist. I suggest you get a second opinion, in fact, it might be considerate to ask him for a referral for one. ...Read more
Saw an ortho doc for bony lump in arm. After X-ray they said it was bone & result of elbow ligament bunching up. Said there were changes in bone but not cancer. Should I seek 2nd opinion?
Probably not: This is a fairly common problem around the elbow joint. If the x-ray showed normal bone and the lump is not enlarging or become tender, then there is probably no need to seek an immediate 2nd opinion unless you are really worried about it. Sometimes people need the peace of mind of a 2nd opinion, so if you are worried, by all means get a 2nd opinion. See doc again if it's enlarging or tender. ...Read more
