Seborrhea (Overview)

A red, sometimes itchy rash with scales, related to dandruff. It often is present on the scalp and around the nose and eyebrows, but can also appear on the chest and under the arms. The yeast malassezia may play a role and many treatments target this yeast as well as the inflammation in the skin.

Dermatitis seborrhea on nose and how to treat?

Dermatitis seborrhea on nose and how to treat?

Seborrheic dermatiti: Seborrheic dermatitis is not usually primarily on the nose. It tends to be on the cheeks along side the nose and in the eyebrows. Check with your dermatologist for an accurate diagnosis. Seborrheic dermatitis (as well as some other conditions) are improved with Ketoconazole Cream and Hydrocortisone cream both available over the counter. But diagnosis first.

What is treatment for seborrhea in a toddler?

What is treatment for seborrhea in a toddler?

Nothing special: Most toddlers outgrow seborrhea fairly promptly. If you wish to treat it anyway, you can use any of the otc anti-seborrhea shampoos in small amounts, but be careful not to let it get in his/her eyes. If it's unusually recalcitrant or severe, see a dermatologist for a prescription-strength product.

Will apple cider vinegar cure seborrhea?

Will apple cider vinegar cure seborrhea?

It helps many: Cure is a major claim for a condition like seborrhea, which tends to be chronic, but many people report apple cider vinegar to be very helpful. Nothing helps everyone, but earthclinic. Com has a discussion about different home remedies & the seborrhea section has 45 "yeas" and 6 "nays" for apple cider vinegar, a pretty good ratio. See www. Earthclinic. Com/cures/seborrheic_dermatitis. Html#acv_76022.

How do I get rid of my sons seborrhea?

How do I get rid of my sons seborrhea?

Try a shampoo...: ...With either tar, salicylic acid, zinc pyrithione, or selenium sulfide. (if your son is very young, take care not to allow the shampoo to get in his eyes.) if none of those are strong enough you'll have to visit a dermatologist to get a prescription-strength shampoo, plus perhaps a steroid foam or lotion.

Can seborrhea trigger migraines?

Can seborrhea trigger migraines?

Perhaps, not liely: There r multiple possible triggers to migraine, as spelled out in prior answers. I suspect that what lies beneath the skin of your question (pun intended), is if it is a stressor for you, could it trigger migraine--and then the answer is a definite yes. Can't generalize--as is said: one person's pain could be another one's gain. Crazy--yes; so is much of life's realities. C derm: rx the seborrhea.

Can seborrheic dermatitis be genetic? I have used a few different kinds of cream unsuccessful, last resort was protopic, was effective.

Yes: Sensitive and allergic skin has a strong genetic component. In fact, syndromes exist that are very predictable and often are inherited. Atopic (allergic) syndromes often involve sensitive skin, allergies, and asthma.

How could I stop seborrhea?

How could I stop seborrhea?

SeborrheicDermatitis: Dandruff, or seborrheic dermatitis is not usually treated with an internal medicine. Topically it can be treated with both an anti fungal shampoo such as ketoconazole and a topical steroid lotion. It could be treated with internal ketoconazole pills but these have potential side effects and. Liver function studies would need to be monitored with blood tests.

What can you do for seborrhea dermatitis?

What can you do for seborrhea dermatitis?

Control it: Most cases can be controlled adequately with a good over-the-counter anti-seborrhea shampoo and Hydrocortisone cream. Stubborn cases require prescription products. But it will always come back and require re-treatment, because the yeast that causes it is a normal component of your skin.

Oilly seborrhea, is there any natural cure?

Several: Nothing's more "natural" than sulfur and coal tar. They used to be the mainstay, though perhaps you can find some remedies that are less messy / smelly.

How can I quickly cure a seborrhea skin blemish?

How can I quickly cure a seborrhea skin blemish?

Control but no cure: There is no permanent cure for dandruff. Over the counter products such as Nizoral (ketoconazole) 1% shampoo, t/gel or t/sal shampoos can help. If this is not enough, see a dermatologist who can help you find the best prescription regimen.

Can I have seborrhea dermatitis and live a happy life?

Can I have seborrhea dermatitis and live a happy life?

Yes: I've had it since childhood and managed it. It's one of the less difficult things for which I need to care. You need to educate yourself about it and stay on top of it. Especially, a mix of antifungals and (sparing) glucocorticoids will probably prove most helpful.
