For now, get into a: Fetal position on your side to reduce symptoms and take some OTC meds if no contraindications. May need to see a physician and get some additional types of medication and PT referral or even a possible epidural steroid injection if symptoms don't improve but 90% of disc herniations are treated without surgery.

See below: It is helpful to try to move first from the hips which are lower than the low back. This may take some practice and work with a physical therapist or a doctor familiar with this technique. The idea is to move your spine last. This is really easy to learn but you must practice.
R/O PERICARDITIS: You may have inflammation of the heart=PERICARDITIS vs inflammation of the lungs =PLEURITIS. Often times these occur after a viral URI. They tend to resolve with rest/hydration /NSAID (indocin) if it persists as course of prednisone may be needed. You need a prompt evaluation EKG/CXR AND LABS. See your doctor or go to ER asap.See 1 more doctor answer
Lumbar strain: It is likely that you have strained your lower back. This occurs as a result stretching the ligaments and muscles of your spine beyond their limit causing acute pain. Treatment should consist of icing for the first 72 hours at 4-6 hour intervals when awake, using anti- inflammatory meds, avoidance of heavy lifting, bending, and squatting. Physical therapy can also be recommended. Good luck!

Pain after bending: It is difficult to be certain which of what I will mention is your problem without physical examination. You either have inflamed left sacroiliac joint or irritation of a branch of the sciatic nerve. A prescription for a Medrol pack, use of heat, rest of the area, no prolonged sitting or standing and no lifting, pushing, or pulling until the pain has resolved. Have a check up with your MD.See 1 more doctor answer

Hello.: Hello. I am answering your question six days after you wrote in. I hope that you are feeling a whole lot better by now. Sometimes when we bend or twist, our brain can send signals to our muscles that set us up for an injury. Often when a muscle contracts, another one is relaxed and they can work in concert together. However, some times brain signals cause both sets of muscle to contract at once so that there can be friction and tearing of the muscle fibers. This in turn can lead to spasm and pain. There is not a good way to predict how long it will take to heal. Hopefully, in a couple days to a week for you. However, sometimes the pattern of spasm can become chronic. Consider use of warm heat, non-steroidal antiinflammatory medication (like motrin) and doctors can also prescribed muscle relaxants. Take care.
See the orthopedist: Who after examining you can tell you. Anything from a sprained muscle to even a fractured vertebrae is a possibility.
