Can i flush my colon with salt water and master cleanse?

Can i flush my colon with salt water and master cleanse?

Not a cleanse fan: As a surgeon, i must admit I am not a fan of 'colon cleansing, ' especially with harsh or aggressive cleansers. This can lead to electrolyte imbalances and irritation (colitis), as well as flaring hemorrhoids if you have them. I prefer proper nutrition and high fiber diet and your colon will take better care of itself. Your colon is designed to do what it does and eliminate waste naturally. ...Read more

Any opinions on a detox bath? Detoxifying your body by laying in a tub with epson salt, ginger, baking soda, and essential oils?

Reasonable to try: There is not much research on this topic, but epsom salt baths are a proven way to get magnesium into our bodies, which most people need more of. Baking soda and essential oils are said to help our bodies to detoxify and I have many patients who tell me they do feel better if they do this when feeling toxic. There is certainly no harm in trying. At the very least soaking in a warm tub is relaxing! ...Read more

For the master cleanse: can you add savory herbs to the salt water flush?

Sure: There's no science to this fad. It won't remove "toxins", and you lose weight only because your diet is so nasty. I suspect the whole thing began as a cruel prank. If you want to feel good, stay trim and be healthy, why not get serious once again with your physical fitness? It's much better and more scientific. ...Read more

Sea salt for cleaning out piercings vs. iodized salt, which is better?

Don't get conned: Remember your high school chemistry. Oh, you didn't? Well, table salt is sodium chloride. Salt crystals are exactly equal numbers of sodium & chloride ions. Every single sodium & chlorine atom on Earth has been here for >4 billion yr, since the planet formed. It's a fundamental principle: Every atom of every element is chemically identical. From seawater or made in a lab, salt is salt. ...Read more

Can consuming raw turmeric powder with luke warm water harm pregnancy?

Can consuming raw turmeric powder with luke warm water harm pregnancy?

Possibly: No one does research giving herbs during pregnancy so we don't know for sure. It seems safe to use in cooking but taking medicinal amounts may cause bleeding or stimulate uterine contractions. I advise caution with all herbs in the first trimester. It is probably safest in the final weeks of pregnancy. See http://bit.Ly/16ma7p2 ; http://www.Nlm.Nih.Gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/662.Html. ...Read more
