EGD: An upper endoscopy procedure itself like yours usually doesn't cause diarrhea and thus it could be coincidental. Since your stomach was instrumented I can see it causing gastric irritation. For now, avoid caffeine, spicey or fried foods, avoid harsh roughage, drink flat ginger ale and take kaopectate(may cause dark stools) as needed for diarrhea control. Was referred to gastroenterologist for positive FIT test (occult blood). Was told to do EGD/colonoscopy but I refused the tests. Anything uninvasive?

No anesthesia: Most endoscopists give IV sedation for colonoscopy and egd. Noone should give anesthesia to a pregnant woman unless absolutely necessary. Procedure should be delayed until you are postpartum. ...Read more

Yes: My patients frequently get headaches from the high salt concentration in the prep. You need to look at the prep and discuss with your doctor low salt prep alternatives. It can also help to rehydrate with pedialyte post colonoscopy. Some of my patients get headaches from fasting so long and i encourage my patients to eat as soon as their exam is done. ...Read more
