My mom has been having screaming episodes from anxiety?

Evaluation?: Have you considered taking her to be evaluated? Too much info is missing from the question. How old is your mom? Are these symptoms new? Does she have any medical diagnosis? Does IQ go up during manic episodes?

Does IQ go up during manic episodes?

Mania: I agree with dr. Stewart. In mania, your thoughts are faster and your activity is higher -- but these may not be logical or reality-based. Also your assessment of your own prowess may be inflated because of mood changes -- euphoric "i'm king of the universe, the best there's ever been, " kind of thinking. This does not actually make your iq increase, but can make you "feel" it is. ...Read more

Is my sons untreated reflux triggering SVT episodes?

Is my sons untreated reflux triggering SVT episodes?

Possible: Although there is not a direct correlation to date between svt episodes and GI reflux there are cases of arrhythmias being triggered by swallowing. The esophagus lies just behind the left atrial and if there is some difficulty for food passing to the stomach afib and other arrhythmias might be triggered. Empiric trial to treat the GI reflux would be reasonable. Please discuss with your doctor. ...Read more

For kid or adult?: I can answer as a pediatrician for the child. Most night terrors occur the same time each night or within the same time period (about 90mins) from falling asleep. The key is to find out when they are occurring and wake the child before about 20mins the terror. Take them to the potty or wash hands just make sure they wake up fully, then put them back to sleep. Do this several nights to break cycle. ...Read more
