A dog scratched me with nail, the dog is healthy even after 20 days post the nail scratch, do I still need to get vaccinated against rabies?
No: Rabies can not be transmitted from a nail scratch. The saliva from the infected animal must come in contact with broken skin/a bite wound or a mucous membrane, such as the mouth or eyes. So you don't need the post-exposure injections. But if because of your geographic location or activities you are at risk of contracting rabies in the future, you should strongly consider the preventive vaccine. ...Read more

Can massage oil transmit HIV via small wound (scratch of a nail), im worrying about this, full of stress, even didn't eat, can't think of anyother. Help me?
The massage oil: Would have to have been put on by someone with an open wound that was actively washing in and out of that wound and your wound would have to be open as well, not just a scabbed scratch. Plus, HIV is not a hardy virus and any long term placement outside of body in the oil would not be suitable for the virus to live. While I can't guarantee it, it is not likely HIV would be transmitted this way. ...Read more

This replaces the old Td. ...Read more

3 month old scratches head severely despite keeping nails trimmed. He has eczema. Is this the cause and how can I treat scratches and prevent it?
Someone scratched my hand with their nails by accident. The scratch was pretty deep and was bleeding alot. Is there a chance they passed on diseases?
Possibly: Of course you couldn't be infected by a blood-borne pathogen/infection--such as hepatitis or HIV--because there is no blood to transmit it in the fingernails. Perhaps you might get an infection if the fingernails were very dirty and carrying disease causing bacteria on them. Washing very well with anti-bacterial soap should have prevented that. For a superficial scratch, hopefully you washed it out good so any tetanus spores were removed. Check vaccine out! ...Read more
