An interesting idea: Her story is very interesting. One problem may be that MS is not the same illness for everyone, so should the remedy work the same? Another problem is that a large scale clinical trial is difficult to finance for a remedy like this. In any case, it is worth looking into, and talking about with your doctors. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
What happens when u eat and crave bathroom tissue? I eat and crave bathroom tissue. I've been eating it since i was 5yrs. Old im 33yrs. Old now. I lso crave ice the same way, and so far with the tissue my brand is scotts because i don't like thick tissue
Hello. : Hello. It sounds like you have pica. Craving ice can sometimes be associated with iron deficiency anemia. Would be concerned that if you ingest large amounts of bathroom tissue due to the possibility of this congealing into a mass and obstructing your bowel. Recommeind that you see a psychiatrist. Clearly eating tissue paper is meeting some form of need and in your case may be part of an obsessive/ compulsive disorder. Take care. ...Read more

What does it mean if half my nail is red other half white? Even if i push down on my nail it stays redish light brown. Almost like terry's nails
The red part : Usually the area closer/proximal to your trunk/body is receiving more blood flow than the outer (white) part. I won't worry about it. Go see ur pcp and get checked for blood pressure problems, anemia etc. Take care and enjoy life! http://www.M.Webmd.Com/skin-problems-and-treatments/features/what-your-nails-say-about-your-health. ...Read more

Is there any truth to dr. Terry wahls insight on MS and diet changes and supplimenting with omega and coq10?
How long would it take from a fall down some stairs that the terry thomas gap in a wrist would get bad enough to have surgery .
Your question: Is confusing to me because if you fell down the stairs and had an xray that showed the terry thomas gap they usually fix it earlier rather than later. It can be delayed 4-6 months but is usually repaired within 3 weeks. But I am not an orthopedist. If you have not seen a hand doctor, i recommend you seen one right away. ...Read more

Not good idea.: Gi upset, nausea vomiting and diarrhea from the fish oil portion. Scott's and emulsion makes this sound as though it was not a medicinal but agricultural agent. In that case it may contain something other than cod liver oil and the bottle may be larger than that for medicinal use. I would call poison control. Underlying circumstance regarding ingestion must be addressed. ...Read more
DR. SCOTT HAMSTRA, what do you mean why take the risk. Are you suggesting getting rabies vaccine for humans to build up immunity?
No: There are a few "high risk" jobs where Rabies Vaccine is recommended for people who are likely to get exposed to rabies. Outside of Africa and Asia, only get exposed to rabies in wild animals -- doesn't happen often - so don't use the vaccine unless get exposed. Your immune system is what fights off the rabies virus - the vaccine helps your immune system do this quicker and stronger. ...Read more
Dr. Scott bolhack, why do vains, which normally do not develop it, develop atherosclerosis once they are grafted. (in a coronary bypass , for example)?
Clarification Issue: Arteries constantly sustain stretching and relaxing force/movement with each heart beat, i.e. The pulse. This movement of the endothelial structure facilitates movement of low density lipoprotein particles, sugars and other small atherosclerosis promoting particles & molecules through the intercellular spaces between the endothelial cells. Optimizing drivers is more important for vein grafts. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Hi, I have a testicular hematoma, from a injury a month ago. It has not gone down in size. I went to ER and they said it was no big deal and gave me motrin. What should I do if its same size a month from now? Thanks, Scott
Probably. No worries: The persistent hematoma is not uncommon , but could take 6-8 wks to dissipate . It may remain as the trauma may have caused irritation of the linings I of the scrotum creating a Hydrocele. See your doc again in3-4 months if it has not reduced in size or gets larger. Ultrasound would be helpful if not diagnostic at that point. Neither hematoma nor hydrocele are life threatening . ...Read more
My friend and business partner Scott just confided in me that he has recently been diagnosed with HIV. He is very confused, lost, depressed and is contemplating suicide. Please advise.
Call crisis line: That is so hard! HIV is not AIDs. Treatment is better than ever. If he feels suicidal, have him call a crisis line, or 911. He is so lucky to have a friend like you who cares about him. Keep it up. You don't say where you are from, but I am sure there is an HIV/AIDS support group in your state or area. That can be a treasure-trove of help and advice. See http://tinyurl.com/puok946 ...Read more
I have terry nails, but not anemic nor do i have liver issues. And not malnourished. What could this be?
I give my 18 m old a multivitamin as well as the 2.5 ml of scotts emulsion cod liver oil daily... Is this okay?
Maybe, maybe not: Check with the multivitamin. The rda for the vitamin a & d may already be in that product & the cod liver oil, while ok as a source, may add enough a & d to be an excess. A & d are different from other vitamins that wash out in the urine daily if not used, they store in the bodies fat cells & can produce symptoms if accumulated to excess levels. ...Read more
