Therapy?: Have you yet tried any form of psychotherapy? Typically, the optimal combination of things to treat emotional issues such as depression is medication (which, on your best day, is supposed to take the edge off symptoms) but the real gruntwork takes place in psychotherapist's consulting room. ...Read more

Leg pain d dimer negative at 178 cut off 250 but previous d dimer two weeks ago was 73 scared of dvt?

D-DIMER not specific: D-dimer is significant when it is negative since it excludes clot formation. A positive d-dimer, however, is not diagnostic of a clot since it can be positive for other reasons. In a low risk patient with a negative d-dimer, the chances of a DVT are very low. ...Read more

Pinch feeling in same spot of inner thigh. I've had ultrasounds but still scared of dvt. What could this be.

Doubt dvt: What you have described is unlikely a dvt. The "inner thigh" is a big region but in my view any leg pain should lead one's doc to rule out a 'pinched' or irritated nerve. You did not mention back pain but we have all seen nerve root compression with little or no back symptoms. This said, you are very young to have this as a problem but I would still rtulle it out. ...Read more

Scared of DVT. I have this pain in my upper calf. It hurts when I stretch it when I walk or touch it hard. Played soccer but did not hurt at the time.

If concerned...: Get a venous Doppler (a form of ultrasound). However, if you are active as your soccer reference implies then I seriously doubt you have a DVT ...Read more

Please help. I have this pain from my lower hip that radiates to shin and knee. Worse when sitting. No other symptoms. Scared for DVT. Calf feels tight?

It is likely that: The pain you are experiencing is from nerve compression in your back or hip. Unless you have additional reasons like trauma or infection or prolonged immobility it is unlikely you have a DVT. Regardless, if you are having this much concern you should see your health care provider for evaluation. ...Read more

My legs feels swollen but does not look like it, feel heat and tightness and hurt at times. On femodette right now scared might be dvt.

No: The hallmark of DVT is asymmetric (unilateral) swelling: one leg, not the other. A tape measurement of both legs at the same distance from the ankle is the best way to determine this as appearance can be misleading. Your description is not consistent with DVT. ...Read more

Very mild pain and occ. Mild spasms in calf. No pain walking, standing, or laying. Dvt? Scared and have no insurance.

DVT/calf pain: The way to prove or disprove DVT of the leg would be a venous duplex ultrasound. This test carries a very high success rate of showing DVT between the groin and lower calf. If this is too expensive a test then you may want to try a d-dimer blood test which, if negative, is a strong support for no dvt. ...Read more

No DVT found on U/S — Dr advised stopping Xarelto 30mg which I'd been taking until results came in. Scared to stop now, because of things I've heard. Is it safe? Should I worry? Little anxious here.

No DVT found on U/S — Dr advised stopping Xarelto 30mg which I'd been taking until results came in. Scared to stop now, because of things I've heard. Is it safe? Should I worry? Little anxious here.

Treatment advice: It's not possible to give you specific advice without a full review of your medical record and examination. If no other risk factors, and the only reason for Xarelto is possible DVT, then if the leg is not swollen and the ultrasound was of good quality and negative, then there would be no reason to continue Xarlelto. This is a decision for you and your doctor to make! ...Read more

Mild pain and mild spasms in calf. No pain walking, laying, or standing (exc. In some positions). Dvt? Strain? No insurance. Scared. No other symptoms

Possible: The symptoms you describe could be due to any number of issues... If you have no family history of hypercoaguability, no history of trauma or extended immobility involving the leg and no swelling, warmth or redness... Then a DVT is unlikely... You could try an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen and see how it goes. The only way to be sure would require an ultrasound be done. ...Read more

Most likely muscle: Sounds like a muscle strain. If you had. Recent flight or long car ride, you should check it out to rule out a blood clot (unlikely from your description). Try some leg exercises and eat plenty of potassium containing foods and water. ...Read more

38 was preg, R foot pitting edema, doppler neg for DVT, but sluggish blood flow of popliteal vein. Concerned that DVT was missed, scared of dev a PE!

Possiblity: Sluggish blood flow can be caused by your pregnancy as well. Your uterus pushes against your inferior vena cava which is the main blood vessel that drains blood to the heart. If you are not having shortness of breathe and or chest pains, it is less likely you have a PE. Dopplers are quite accurate in detecting DVTs. ...Read more

How do I distinguish pain from my sciatica in both legs from a blood clot? I get scared because the pains I Get from hip to foot. Pain similar 2 dvt?

Generally you can't: Unless you have a fever or swollen limb which may suggest a clot more than sciatica otherwise not very specific. I would suggest ruling out the clot first and then workup the sciatica issue afterwards. ...Read more
