I have used dr. Schools corn remover and the corn is shiny and embarrassing to look at. Can I use scar away silicone sheets to rid the scar?

Actually Simple.: It sounds as though you have begun the process of "treating the treatment". The use of more and more product to treat the consequences of previous failed treatments. Understand that corns are the intended results of skin being trapped between bone and shoe. The remedy is to ether remove the shoe, and its offending pressure, or remove the bone. The corn is the body's way of protecting the toe. ...Read more

Is it ok if I use 2 different scar product? Mederma at day time and silicone sheet (or maybe Contractubex) at night? My scar is very new from surgery

Silicone best: Absolutely. Silicone gel products work much better than mederma in my opinion and are just as easy to use. If you can't use the silicone sheets 24/7 then use a silicone gel product during the day and silicone sheets at night. ...Read more

Is it safe to use silicone gel sheet on acne scar on the face?

Is it safe to use silicone gel sheet on acne scar on the face?

Yes: Though it would be safe, I doubt that you would be able to keep the sheet in place long enough for it to be effective. For silicone gel sheeting to effectively flatten raised scars it should be used for, at least, 12-18 hours a day. There are more "convenient" ways to try and improve scars on the face. ...Read more

Sorry, I wrote a previous question too. Which would work better for scars? Mederma or silicone? Thanks!

Probably silicone: They both can help but the best answer is the one that you use correctly. Mederma's instruction is to massage the cream on the scar about four times a day; no one really does this. Silicone solution has to be applied daily and allowed to dry. Silicone pads have to be held in place on the scar for months.
Use the product that works best for your scar location and lifestyle. ...Read more

How does the silicone gel patch work on scars? I've been using it since 11/29/14. It help tremendously but I'm not sure if it's doing anything now

Mechanism: Is by providing direct physical barrier to fibroblast (or scar tissue forming cell) formation in hypertrophic scarring. These form up to one year, so you need to use gel patch as long as possible. Once the scar becomes hypertrophic, it becomes difficult to reverse. ...Read more

Keloid scar options: Keloids are scars that grow outside the boundaries of the original scar and usually require more agressive treatment such as surgery and injections. Scars that are thick or red but not keoids can be treated with various topicals, my recommendation being scar gel from skinmedica. Most scars improve over time without special treatment, and taping them for 6 weeks after surgery helps more than creams. ...Read more

What is the best treatment for hypertrophic scars, is it best to use silicone sheets or silicone gel. Or is it possible to use both?

What is the best treatment for hypertrophic scars, is it best to use silicone sheets or silicone gel. Or is it possible to use both?

Scars: Silicone sheets and gels can be very helpful but usually you need to be consistent and the usually time frame is three months. No need to use both just one or the other. However, it is not perfect and if there is not adequate resolution of the scar, you may need to seek consultation with a plastic surgeon or dermatologist.
Hope that helps. ...Read more
