I got a scar going through my abondem and I would like to remove it one day so would it be possible for me to have a belly button and what's the price?
Expensive: Some lazers are out there nowadays for scar removal but generally these are out of pocket, cosmetic procedures. I would speak to a dermatologist or plastic surgeon locally to see what they can offer you. ...Read more
See dermatologist: Or your family physician regarding this. Some scars can be reduced, but even with the best plastic surgeon there will be a faint scar visible. Depending on what the "bump" looks like, you may have an umbilical hernia, which can be surgically corrected and is a relatively safe/simple procedure. Can't really determine this without a physical exam though. ...Read more
Tend to recur: If your umbilical piercing has resulted in a true keloid scar, I would recommend removing it to prevent further growth of the scar. Keloids are notoriously difficult to treat and require surgical debulking, steroid injections and occasionally radiation therapy. If you have a hypertrophic scar, which is less bulky, you might try changing switching the piercing to 14k gold. ...Read more

A year ago I was bitten by what I think was a deer tick in my belly button. I have a scar. Occasionally the area swells and itches. Is this normal?
Not really: What you describe sounds fairly mild (occasional swelling and itching), but it is not normal. Typically if the "bite" was infected, the symptoms would not be so intermittent, and it would be tender. However, "something" is irritating your skin. Since it has been going on for a year now, it may be time to see your Dr or a dermatologist the next time it swells up. (I wouldn't go when it's normal) ...Read more

I had a C-section a month ago. Skin is very sensitive bellow belly button above scar. Even clothes rubbing on my skin hurt. Is this normal?
Maybe: Presuming you had a "bikini" incision (near the pubic hair line), it is a bit unusual for skin to be sensitive below the belly button. It is very typical for the area to be very numb. Some patients may interpret the feeling to be one of sensityivity. If there is pain and/or redness though, please see your doctor. Remember, avoid exposure to extreme heat near the incision as a skin burn is possible. ...Read more

Had laparoscopy for a cyst on my overy on 22nd feb, today my belly button scar had a scab I knocked off by accident and it had a lot of puss out ofit?
Infection: Sounds like an infection if you see pus. The infection could be superficial. If the area around the incision appear red and tender that could be a sign of cellulitis. If not, I would apply triple antibiotic ointment (can find over the counter) several times a day for several days. If you develop redness of the surround skin and increasing pain than I would have it looked at. ...Read more

No: Retin a (tretinoin) type medications are really for the treatment of acne. For scars it is best to avoid sun, so use sunscreen or keep the scar covered.
