Can I use a olive oil moisturizing hair spray daily with a flaky itchy scalp condition? (also using medicated shampoo twice per week)
Dry scalp? Shampoos and conditioners don't help, even dry after salon visit? Possible cause: dehydration?
Doubt it!: I'm assuming your dry scalp is manifesting as dandruff. This is usually not due to any dehydration but is due to excess oil (sebum) production. You will need to use special medicated shampoo to control and avoid saturated or trans fats which can worsen things. Some people use tea tree oil which can help. Shampoo and cysts: Shampoos cannot cause cysts. Cysts can be caused by trauma or heredity but most of the time we don't know what causes them. Acne can occur on the scalp. We also sometimes call it folliculitis--inflammation (or occasionally infection) of hair follicles. Doxycycline is a commonly prescribed antibiotic for both acne and folliculitis. Another course of the same could be done and then followed by a topical antibiotic solution like clindamycin. There are no good options for otc treatment--shampoos, etc.
