Saw Palmetto Maximum Dosage
I take one dose per day of 250 mg Glucophage (metformin) and homeopathic med Agnus Castus thrice a day (10 drops per dose) for PCOS. Will the 2 interact ???
Probably not: I ran a drug interaction program for Metformin and chasteberry (Vitex agnus-castus) and there are zero interactions. However make sure you are taking the drugs as prescribed. For Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Metformin is precribed as 500mg (immediate-release). 1 pill oral 3 times per day. or 850-1000 mg oral (immediate release) twice daily. Or 1500-2000mg (extended release) once daily. ...Read more
Some one told me beta-sitosterol and saw palmetto taken togather stops hairfall. What should be the quantity of intake.I am using minoxidil(10% soln).
See a dermatologist: Saw palm contains small amt finasteride. A generic prescription is much more effective & not expensive if prescribed at 5 mg: you use a pill cutter to break it into 4 pieces. 2% Minoxidil works almost as well as 5% & costs less. 10% is not a regular commercial product. Result vary. Benefit comes only to those who use it religeously for years. ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Was on flomax (tamsulosin) for bph. Is a mix of saw palmetto .320mg and bets-sitosterol 100mg, pumpkin seed, corn silk, pygeum a good mix for enlarged prostate?
See below: There is conflicting and contradictory research about the benefits of supplements for prostate symptoms. Saw palmetto most studied. Despite much anecdotal evidence suggesting benefit(s) from the supplements you mention, high quality and more reliable research seem to indicate that these supplements have little or no benefit for reducing bph-related symptoms. Very high placebo response. ...Read more

The pharmacist gave me 150 mg Sertraline Hexal instead of 150 mg Zoloft (sertraline) (Delivery problems at Pfizer ) Will I notice any difference? Dangerous? Thanks
Safe to try: The generic name for Zoloft (made by one company) is sertraline (made by different companies). Generics work well and cost much less than the brand. However, if you notice any difference in effectiveness let your doctor know. A small percent of people do better on the brand. Hope this helps. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Helps ovulation: Clomiphene fools the brain into thinking there is not enough estrogen produced by the ovary so the brain sends out more signals to the ovary to get to work(fsh/lh hormones). These stimulate more and better ovulation and therefore can take people who don't ovulate or don't ovulate well and improve this function. Side effects, hot flashes, mood changes, headaches etc. ...Read more
Not used twice a day: Clomiphene/ Clomid (clomiphene) is a long-acting medication and is not given twice a day - i assume you mean two 50 mg pills once a day. Common side-effects are hot flashes, mood changes, mild bloating, mild nausea, increased cramping, breast tenderness, headache. There's about a 5-10% chance of multiple pregnancy, mostly twins. If it was prescribed twice daily see a reproductive endocrinology / infertility md. ...Read more
Valium & Buspirone - safe together (unless Dr specifically says otherwise)? Whats the typical daily buspirone dose for 110lbs/50kg person on valium?
Doesn't make sense: to use both medications, and there are no studies of both drugs being used together. Generally , buspirone (BuSpar® and generics) is used in order to AVOID using benzodiazepine drugs like diazepam (Valium®). Sometimes a doctor who wants to get a patient off benzodiazepines may prescribe buspirone and then taper the benzo. Usual starting dose is 10-15 mg twice a day, may increase to 45-60 mg/day. ...Read more
I am taking 250 mcg Tikosyn (dofetilide) twice a day for A-fib. Latest GFR was 39. Should dosage be reduced?
Call cardiologist: Your cardiologist should be able to advise you as to how much Tikosyn (dofetilide) to take based on your renal function (GFR) to reduce your risk of serious arrhythmia. This communication between you and your Cardiologist is very important when you are taking a drug that requires close monitoring and supervision. ...Read more
Doc prescribed me ezerex powder & tab Clomid (clomiphene) 50 mg once in a day, is it sufficient to increase my testosterone level? Would my erection proper after?
Maybe (not): Use of Clomid (clomiphene) is off-label but accepted way to attempt to increase testosterone production while maintaining fertility as it stimulates pituitary to produce more LH & FSH. Ezerex, as far as I can tell, is an over-the-counter dietary supplement (you know how I feel about those - if not, check out http://supplements.usatoday.com) w/o any evidence of benefit/safety. ED is separate issue. ...Read more

What's the dosage equivelant of 100mg Zoloft to the same amount of paxil (paroxetine). I'm aware Paxil (paroxetine) only comes in 20mg, 30mg and 40mg doses.?
No equivilency: They are both in the ssri family of anti-depressants/anti-anxiety medications but are different chemicals and are metabolized differently. Also, often highly individual responses are seen with this family of drugs. If zoloft works for you, Paxil (paroxetine) may not work well. You also may experience new, unwanted side effects. If necessary to change, start at a low dose and titrate to effective dose. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
