Salty taste: With infections of the nose or throat, the taste buds are indirectly and directly affected. First, your sense of smell contributes to your taste and with a sinus infection your sense of smell will be decreased. Second, where there is a sore throat, there is swelling & inflammation that will directly affect the taste buds, which will cause them not to work that well. Salt taste persists the best. ...Read more

Finished 24hr urine sodium (for POTS syndrome)& voided 3.5L.Excessive?On high salt diet, fluids & florinef.felt so lightheaded & thirsty day of test.
Normal: The amount of fluid you urinate will EXACTLY match the amount you drink (and eat). Think about this: if it weren't so, over time, you'd blow up if you even retained a tiny amount, or shrivel up if over-diuresed. Kidneys do an amazing job. Since you're receiving "fluids", 3. 5L isn't unexpected. ...Read more

Does sodium which is found naturally in foods like carrots still considered bad sodium like table salt? (for CKD patients)
Let's define "salt": Jake, table salt is not "bad" any more than glucose is bad. Table salt is sodium chloride, but sodium can be bound to many anions to form other "salts' such as sodium citrate, for instance, which is a preservative.
