My advice is to avoid it if it is a substance which causes you trouble. In general it is a preservative and is usually listed as an ingredient in foods, so check the labels of the foods you purchase. Can you clarify: Can you please clarify your allergy. Sulfur is a molecule, sulfate is made up of sulfur and oxygen molecules, thus it is a different compound. Also, sulfa antibiotics such as sulfamethoxyzole can cause an allergic reaction in some people, and thus these people need to avoid sulfa based antibiotics, and not necessarily sulfur, or sulfate. ...Read more
