Asthma: You are on the same classes of medications. Advair is fluticasone and salmeterol. The advantage of the nebulized medications is that they can be easier to use when you are short of breath. Most patients say they feel that they get more of the medications when they are nebulized versus orally inhaled especially when they are short of breath, . Read more

Hi can I use saline nebulizer solution to help break up my 1 year olds caugh?

Hi can I use saline nebulizer solution to help break up my 1 year olds caugh?

Maybe: First you have to figure out why and where he is coughing from. Is he suffering from a pneumonia, or a bronchiolitis, or asthma, or a post-nasal drip cough. You can do this in colaboration with his doc. If you just want to moisten his nasal passages make sure you're not giving him an antihistamine; that dries up the airways. Read more

Is it ok to use plain saline in a nebulizer to help my 4 year-old with nighttime coughing. She doesn't have coughs during day only when lying down.?

Is it ok to use plain saline in a nebulizer to help my 4 year-old with nighttime coughing. She doesn't have coughs during day only when lying down.?

Yes. Ok to use: Basically the same as using saline drops into the nose, only it is in vapor form. You can also just put some clean tap water. An alternative is get an ultrasonic humidifier which can run for many hours instead of just few minutes with nebulizer.
If coughing is persistent, have her evaluated for possible nocturnal asthma etc...
Good luck. Read more

Can I use Optical sterile normal saline drop solution in mixing Vebtolin nebulous 2.5mg for a 4yrs old kid inside a nebulizer or would water be better?

Can I use Optical sterile normal saline drop solution in mixing Vebtolin nebulous 2.5mg for a 4yrs old kid inside a nebulizer or would water be better?

Not advised: Optical sterile normal saline could have preservatives in it that should not be inhaled with the nebulized medication. The company that sells the respirator provides normal saline to be used for mixing. Water is not the same as saline and may be harsh compared to saline. In an emergency, I would recommend this recipe (including appropriate steps to clean materials). http://tinyurl. Com/oacp7go Read more

Cough syrup, Nosal drop and steam are not affecting much for my 1 month infant, can I give him nebulizer with saline water.

Cough syrup, Nosal drop and steam are not affecting much for my 1 month infant, can I give him nebulizer with saline water.

? irritants?: The first months are troubled by narrow nasal passages exposure to dust, fragrances, smoke & other irritants. This often ends as congestion & produces rattling with breathing. The best rx is washing out the nose with saline & SUCTIONING the remainder. Eliminate irritants from babies environment & this will happen less. Cough syrups make them worse. Nasal drops without suction are a waste of time. Read more
