Salicylic Acid For Dark Spots
What can I do so my dark spots go away I have a dark line in the side of my eyes one in each one and two spots in my chin I the dermatology subscribe hydroquinone 6% salicylic acid 2% it takes some out but the dark spots are still there
I: I suggest you go back to see your dermatologist. You may need a higher dose of the medication, or a change in medication. In addition it's not a bad idea to see an eye specialist (ophthalmologist) for the dark lines in your sclera (white part of eye). There may be other options like laser therapy that may be helpful. Good luck.See 2 more doctor answers
I use salicylic acid 20% on spots. If I neutralise & wash my face, can I use differin (adapalene) as well without irritation?
Can salicylic acid exfoliant washes cause an initial breakout or 'purging' period? If so, for how long usually? I've been clearing in some spots using it but breaking out in the spots I was more prone to having blackheads in. Its Purging them maybe?
Salicylates: Salicylate acid exfoliants can sometimes cause an irritant skin reaction. Futhrmore, a subset of individuals can develop allergy to these products. The historical pattern of symptoms is the key to diagnosis.
See derm: You can try Proactive, but if that doesn't work see your dermatologist for prescription meds
3 months ago I have tummy surgery and scars are keloid, I use salicylic acid and now there red and darker and sore, please help.
Wait longer: You had abdominal surgery 3 months ago. You are applying salicylic acid to it and it is worse. I would wait to apply any lotions or creams for 6 months. It is difficult to tell a hypertrophic scar from a keloid soon after surgery. Most plastic surgeons say to wait until the inflammation resolves before revising it. Wait longer then see plastic surgeon for revision or medical therapy.See 1 more doctor answer
Salicylic & Glycolic: You can use the products together. However the two products used together my cause increased dryness or irritation.
Dry irritated skin: Salicylic acid is an over-the-counter acne medication. It can cause excess dryness and some scaliness of the skin, but these side effects can be lessened with an oil-free moisturizer. It can also cause irritated skin, which improves if the salicylic acid is used less frequently. Salicylic acid is less irritating than benzoyl peroxide but is likely less effective than benzoyl peroxide against acne.
Not really.: Salicylic acid is a mild skin peeling agent that removes the top sun-damaged layers of the skin, allowing the healthier skin cells from within the hair follicles and sweat glands to resurface your skin as it heals after peel. More collagen and elastic fibers are produced, making your skin look more youthful and less wrinkled.
Acid: It does give you a mild chemical peel.
Salicylic acid: No, in fact it will remove dead skin and make your skin younger in appearance. It is used in a number of cosmetics for this purpose.
