I'm currently on a daily dose of 20mg of nexium (esomeprazole). I am 4 weeks pregnant are these meds safe to take? I tried not taking it i was in pain after 2 days.

Likely OK: Nexium (esomeprazole) not a problem. The jury is not in yet on sertraline during pregnancy. The problems that have been suspected with sertraline appear to be more of a problem later in pregnancy, closer to delivery, with some of these meds being suspected to be involved in some cardiac/breathing problems in newborns at the time of birth with a condition called persistent pulmonary hypertension. ...Read more

See your doctor: Your acid reflux may not be under full control, and you just need to follow up with your doctor to see if the medication is working, or if there's something else going on.
