Not 'just' obsession: Such thoughts could be an obsession if they're frequent and hard to shake. Along with other thoughts or compulsive behaviors, they could be part of obsessive compulsive disorder (ocd). But not necessarily. And thoughts about hurting others can be potentially dangerous, and/or reflect great anger.
