Ruptured Disk (Overview)

Disc herniation have a spectrum from slight bulge to bulge to herniation to extrusion from low to higher severity. The rupture usually suggests extrusion - disc material going outside the disc itself and the material compressing a nerve in the spine.

Pressure on a nerve: Different terms describe the movement of the central part of a disc beyond the normal confines of the disc.
