Ruptured Cyst Vs Ovarian Torsion
Pain severity?: Many patients with twisted ovaries note that the pain makes it difficult to "laugh, talk, walk, breathe, or be touched in the abdomen". Ruptured cyst patients note a "moment of severe pain" which often passes after a few hours. A twised ovary requires immediate surgery 100% of the time and a ruptured cyst often does not. ...Read more

Not the same: Ovarian torsion caused by twisting on blood vessels & usually fallopian tube cutting off blood supply to ovary. Partial cause could be ovarian cyst. Both t&r conditons present with abdominal pain & vomiting. ...Read more
I went to the ER. Ovarian torsion. It ruptured. Pain shot to right shoulder. Shoulder still hurts. Ovary hurts again. No med prescribed. Mass on panc?
Here are some. ..: The specifics of the Q is not quite clear, but I assumed there might be cyst (S) in the twisted ovary, which might rupture resulting from necrosis of twisted ovary. All the necrotic tissue from its twisting and expelled cystic fluid became the waste of the body, which will be "digested" by healing process, which in turn leads to inflammation over a variable duration so the pain lingers until... ...Read more

Disappeared ovarian cyst. Why do I still have pain? Do I need second opinion? Just nervous if it grows again without knowing and have torsion suddenly
No second opinion: There are various causes of ovarian cysts. The most common is an ovulatory cyst which you have each month prior to ovulation. This cyst ruptures and you ovulate. Oftentimes there is a little blood that is spilled into the peritoneal cavity. This can cause pain which resolves. Other cysts can form and either torse or rupture. If you have severe pain that persists, you should be seen by your dr. ...Read more
Why would my small ovarian dermoid cyst (1.6 cm) be causing me pain? Ultrasound showed no torsion and only trace fluid in pouch of douglas.
I've had 2 ovarian torsions due to cysts forming, ive taken birth control for that. When I exercise (doing cardio) I start bleeding (spots), what/why?
Conservative surgery: For your young age pts, you should be treated conservatively with now not to remove your overy unless pathology indicated, but to carefully unreleased torsion and stabilize your ovaries to prevent its reoccurrence by larparoscopically and on BCP if fertility is not in consideration. And you need to be regulated your periods by hormone or BCP therapy. Good luck ...Read more
Fainted w strong pain after eating when I had ovarian cyst. Doc said likely torsion. Removed. Got recurrence 5cm, had strong pain after eating. Same?
Correct diagnosis?: Eating to fill stomach does nothing to do with ovarian torsion although it may occur and recur at any given time. So, focus on watching and recording to log what you eat and drink so hopefully to pin-point any food-related incompatibility. If not helpful, collect the feature, degree, and progress of all related symptoms with their detailed sequence of events, and bring those to see doc... ...Read more
Why does my 3.6 CM ovarian cyst hurt? Went to ER & they said to come back if having severe pain (meaning torsion) is bloating/pain really that normal?
Many possiblities: An ovarian cyst hurts due to the pressure of the fluid and the inflammation on the lining of the ovary. This will persist till the body resorbs the fluid. Bloating and sharp pain are normal for a cyst. Sever pain means a significant increase from the pain that took you to the ER in the first place. If your pain has worsened then see a doctor. If it is the same then give it time. ...Read more

I had laparoscopy for my ovarian cyst that had torsion 1 week ago. Before that I had pcos and irregular periods. I want to be pregnent. How long take?
Possible but..: Possibly, an ovarian may twist with its recurrent spontaneous untwisting, similar to that scenario in testes. But, testicular torsion with recurrent spontaneous detorsion is somewhat easier to assess than the ovarian counterpart. However, professional alertness + timely analysis the detailed Hx of onset, degree, duration, and interval of pain remain the key to suspecting its Dx. ...Read more
