Sore throats tricky: It's so hard to predict accurately when a sore throat IS NOT a strep throat. Your symptoms SOUND like either viral pharyngitis or allergic, right? But, you could also have strep. I would drink fluids, take a little something to knock the pain down a little, maybe some Motrin, and get a strep test done...you can go to a Minute Clinic or something....but I'd get it done. ...Read more

Usually viral: Viruses cause the symptoms you listed. Viruses cannot be killed by antibiotics but your body will fight off the viral infection over the next 5-10 days. In the meantime, take OTC medications to help with the symptoms. Dayquil/nyquil might help. You've got a conglomeration of issues that could represent anything from a bad gastrointestinal flu to a bad migraine headache to mononucleosis.
