We visited beach yesterday, today my daughter is running a fever, she didn't get in the water, she has a slight tan on face only, can this be related?
Not likely related: It sounds like a matter of coincidence that she is running a fever now and not the fault of going to the beach. At 1 year old, fevers are most commonly viral; however, if there are other symptoms or it persists a visit to the pediatrician should clear up the question of cause. On another note, sunblock and sun protection (eg hat) are great ideas as we venture into summer. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I got a flu and pneumonia shot yesterday and today I am running a fever of almost 102. Should I be worried?
Vaccine side effects: Probably you are having mild side-effects from one or the other of those vaccines. I think it's best to call your doctor about it, so they can 'track' your condition. Most likely this fever (which can occur in a few percent of patients) will go away on its own. You want to watch out for any localizing symptoms (red, sore, swollen arm) and other 'systemic' effects like continued fever, weakness etc ...Read more

For 2 days have had pain under breastbone, and yesterday pain the back. Now chest hurts like pluerisy. I am coughing a little, but no running fever.
See a doctor: This could be any number of things, from infection (like pneumonia or bronchitis), to a spontaneous lung collapse (pneumothorax), to a pulled muscle or inflammation of the ribs. You should get checked out if it is going on for more than a couple of days. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

My son had his wisdom teeth taken out yesterday. He is now running a 101.1 fever. Can I give his motrin while he is on oxycodone?
Fever is body's way: of fighting infection, and in itself is not bad, but your child may feel more comfortable if you use a fever reducer. If your child weighs 24 #, then 160mg of Tylenol (acetaminophen) or 100 mg of Advil are both safe. It is more inportant to consider other symptoms that your child has. If he is alert and interactive and does not have breathing problems, ok to wait 2-3 days before seeing a doctor. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
