Run Heart Hurt
I run till my heart hurts is that bad? I used to smoke weed atleast twice a day for a year. I stopped and am trying to get in shape for soccer. I jog till my heart feels like it's gonna burst. Is that bad? Does it mean anything but that I'm out of shape?
It may be bad: Going from doing nothing to doing everything is not good for your body. You need advice from a trainer. If you are feeling your heart "beating out of your chest, " you are overstressing yourself. At your age, and particularly if you have other risk factors you may hurt yourself. A stress test is reasonable before an unaccustomed exercise program, and start off gradually, increasing as tolerated. ...Read more

Yes: I am sorry to hear you are feeling depressed. You should definitely seek help for these symptoms from a qualified mental health professional. There are ways they can truly help. The physical symptoms you are feeling could be related to depression, or could be something else, but at your age are very unlikely to be related to the heart, which is good news. Still, you should see a primary care doc. ...Read more

Did cross-country today and pushed myself to run as much as I could. I'm unfit and my chest hurt a little and my heart rate reached 176bpm is this bad?
Not necessarily.: The estimated maximum heart rate (eMHR) is 220-age, which is 204 bpm for you. You got up to about 85% of your eMHR. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends activity from 50%-85% of the MHR for at least 15 min. So, you got a good workout! If you didn't pass out & if the chest pain subsided, then there's no lasting problem. Keep exercising regularly, you'll get better (fitter) with practice. ...Read more

If you are not: Testing you are guessing. The only way to know if you have low B12 is/w a lab test through your doc. If you are low on B 12 please use sublingual B 12, not the kind you swallow.
