Plz help me, my sister is pregnant, her hsv1 IgG negative, igm positive. Is there any chance to get a healthybaby. Doctor diag hsv1 in lips not in genital?

Yes: The baby will unlikely be affected by the Herpes Type I infection your sister has now. Many people are exposed and have herpetic lesions on the mouth and lips. The greatest risk of newborn HSV infection is transmitting the virus through the birth canal when the mother has genital HSV. The risk is lower prior to delivery. ...Read more

My ELISA anti rubella IgG negative (0.13 ul/ml) and ELISA anti rubella IgM positive (>400). Is it safe to pregnancy.?

My lab on this month IgG cmv, rubella, toxo positive and IgM CMV rubella herpes negative ; toxo weakly positive>0.6 can I have baby ob in Thai not sure?

Yes: As we discussed, you have had toxoplamosis and developed antibodies to this organism and in future pregnancies it will not cross the placental boundries and infect the baby. Good luck. ...Read more

Is my child at risk if I am positive for rubella IgG and IgM tests are positive?

Yes: Igm indicates a recent infection whereas IgG indicates past infection or immunity. When both are positive that means the infection is recent so there is some risk of intrauterine infection and the pregnancy should be monitored closely. It is important to make sure your MMR vaccine booster is up to date before pregnancy to avoid this situation. ...Read more

Rubella Igg came out positive and Igm is non reactive. I'm 19weeks pregnant. Is it harmful for the baby.

Rubella Igg came out positive and Igm is non reactive. I'm 19weeks pregnant. Is it harmful for the baby.

No: It means you either had rubella in the past or had the vaccine. With these results, your baby is at no risk if you were exposed to a case of rubella during pregnancy. That infection is well known to cause significant damage to a fetus if mother gets it during pregnancy. ...Read more

My rubella IgM >400 and IgG negative 0.13. But I didn't have any symptom. Is it a problem to get vaccinated again since im planning pregnancy.

My rubella IgM >400 and IgG negative 0.13. But I didn't have any symptom. Is it a problem to get vaccinated again since im planning pregnancy.

No, but: Arguably you don't need to get vaccinated again because you are already producing antibodies; it should only be a matter of time before the antibody production shifts from igm to igg. ...Read more

Pregnant 13 weeks, IgG and IgM rubella come out positive, IgG 101 (+), IgM 1.3 (+), retest after 3 weeks, result the same, is it safe to continue?

Rubella: The presence of igm antibodies suggests, but does not prove, that you have had infection in the "recent" past, but the absence of a rising titer in 3 wks also suggests that the infection was not immediately prior to the first testing. Whether or not you choose to continue your pregnancy is a personal decision, but doubt that these values necessarily predict a negative outcome. Good luck. ...Read more

My rubella Igg came out positive and im 19weeks pregnant. Is this mean that I had measles in my first 3weeks of pregnancy? My igm is non reactive.

Unlikely: The IgM will eventually drop off a month or two after primary infection so absence at 19 weeks doesn't tell you much about early pregnancy. Unless you were ill with rubella during that period I would not expect it. This pair of tests are often done in pregnancy and your results is what they expect from someone who received the vaccine as a kid or had the disease before pregnancy. ...Read more

How long will a rubella IgM test stay positive for? I have an immunity according to the IgG test. However im pregnant and the IgM test was positive.

6 weeks: Presence of rubella-specific igm antibody indicates recent infection, however, false-positive results do occur. Follow-up igg titer in 2-3 weeks will be of help in confirmation of diagnosis. ...Read more

My rubella IgG test came positive 153.9. is it a reason to worry as the doctor did another test after 2 weeks IgM and triple test. ..is it needed?

Positive IgG: A positive IgG for rubella indicates you have had the virus in the past or have been successfully immunized. This is a good thing if you are planning a pregnancy. Your doctor may have a reason for ordering more tests, just ask. All the best. ...Read more

My rubella igm>400, IgG negative (0.13) is vaccination ok under these circumstances? . I'm planning for pregnancy.

Rubella: The presence of igm class antibodies indicates congenital or recent infection. If you have any signs of infection get in to see the doctor immediately. I would wait 6 weeks and repeat titers to make sure the igm is trending down and the igg is trending up (proving immunity). ...Read more

12 weeks pregnant. I have immunity to rubella according to my IgG test. My IgM test came back positive. Should I be worried?

Are you sick?: Rubella igm can stick around indefinitely after your immunization, or be a false-positive. I would stop worrying. Rubella is a terrible disease when it affects the unborn child, and it is still very much with us as evidenced by outbreaks in europe due to lack of immunization. ...Read more

Likely immune: ARUP lab values for rubella IgM are negative if less than 20 AU/ml and for rubella IgG are negative if 1.1. Based on your results, I suspect that Quest was your lab for testing. If you are clinically well, than you likely are immune to rubella. ...Read more
