Rpr Test Window
Had RPR syphilis test done and it was negative. It had been 2 months since sexual contact (Oral sex). Some sources say 12 week window period?
Rapid plasma reagin (rpr) is a blood test that looks for non-specific antibodies that may indicate that the organism (treponema pallidum) that causes syphilis is present. The term "reagin" means that this test does not look for antibodies against the actual bacterium, but rather for antibodies against substances released by cells when they ...Read more

No false negatives: The RPR test is always positive within 6 weeks of a new syphlilis infection. False negative RPR test results are exremely rare. You should stop testing. If you have symptoms that make you suspect syphilis, you can be confident it's actually something else. See your doctor or the STD clinic if you remain conerned. ...Read more

I am very curious by your question. It is difficult to have a false positive for syphilis so I would make sure that you are getting the right information and that a follow up test is scheduled. Latent syphilis can have deadly consequences so making sure you are un-infected is paramount.

It can happen: Revised reply: disregard earlier one if you saw it. At first I misunderstood the question. The newer TP specific IgG/IgM tests (EIA etc) and RPR/VDRL have similar seroconversion times, typically 4-6 weeks. The IgG tests often are positive first, but exact frequency of this isn't yet known -- more study needed. Apologies again if any confusion from earlier reply. ...Read more
Syphilis testing: All syphilis is "bad": it is a very dangerous infection, even if causing no symptoms at this time. However, low positive results might indicate you were treated without knowing it, e.g. if you received certain antibiotics for other infections. Or it might be a false positive test, so confirmatory testing is needed. Discuss w/ your doctor, or best to see an STD or infectious diseases specialist. ...Read more

Worrying for nothing:
But, miss, your worrying for nothing is taking time away from real medical problems on this site. Please stop asking the same question. I think I have counted over ten times asking the same question. That is offensive, bothersome and rude behavior. The answers are not changing.
