Prevnar (pneumococcal vaccine) 13 vaccine has diphtheria proteins in it. Does Prevnar (pneumococcal vaccine) 13 vaccine protect against pneumococcus and diphtheria? Thank-you!
No: The diphtheria proteins used for PCV-13 (Prevnar) are not antigenic for diphtheria. That means they are not recognized by the body to produce an immune response. They just help carry the pneumococcal proteins into the appropriate cells to create the immune response for the pneumococcal bacteria. ...Read more

The efficacy of the quadrivalent over the trivalent vaccine has not been established in preventing disease as it just got on the market in the us. The mono and di valent vaccines are not on the market. See the cdc.Gov site 4 info. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Protection wears off: The protection provided by a tetanus shot usually provides ample levels of circulating antibody protection for up to ten years. After that point it fades & the person may develop tetanus if exposed. Protection from tetanus & several other bacteria based vaccines does not last as long as most viral vaccines & must be boosted periodically to maintain protection. ...Read more

Discuss w/ UR Doctor: These are two very different products, one is a vitamin b shot to help boost your oxygen capacity of your blood and is a B12 vitamin, and the other is a vaccine to protect against hpv. So, the thinking should be less about which one hurts less, if both are needed. More on how it can help you even with momentary discomfort. The B12 hurts less, but the vaccine may not hurt a lot either depending on your pain tolerance. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
My 8wk old house puppy nipped at me on left arm. No broken skin, no blood just small tooth mark. Cleaned wound, etc. Rabies? Pup 2 young for shots.
Rabies: Rabies is extremely rare nowdays in the us, especially as a result of dog bites. If there was any risk of rabies, it would be from street dogs, but it doesn't sound like your puppy is a street dog. Also, rabbit dogs would normally be expected to act accordingly. Your case doesn't allude to that. I'd not worry about rabies, but would definitely watch the wound as it is prone to infection. ...Read more
