7-10 days: This is a very normal course for roseola. While the fever is usually only 2-3 days, the rash typically persists for 7-10 days. You are on day 6 - give it through the weekend yet. Another one of those childhood illnesses here and about to be gone! ...Read more

When a baby has roseola, is it normal to fever coming back when the body is still covered with rash? Or should it be high only before rash appears?

Not usually: The sequela of roseola is that the fever resolves and then the rash appears. If the fever is persisting, it could be something else besides roseola. In any case if the fever still recurs, then it's time to follow up with the doctor again. Good health. ...Read more

Is it normal that roseola rash worsen as days go by? What can i do for my kid? Pls help no fever she is itching and we gave antihistamine

Cool bath may help.: Roseola rash is generally not itchy and lasts about 3 days. Itchy rash sounds more an like allergic reaction or urticaria that can come as a result of infection, so if rash doesn't clear in 3 days, please get evaluation. Continue antihistamine. Sometimes topical lotions that leave the skin feeling cool also is effective. ...Read more

My daughter has a rash all over the top of her body which looks like an allergic reaction but dr said it's roseola but she didn't have high fevers

Possible: Sometimes roseola rash can look like macular patches and spots and can be mistaken for allergies. High fever is common but not always seen. If it disappears in 2-3 days with no anti-histaminic medications, it is likely to be roseola. https://search.yahoo.com/search?fr=chr-greentree_ie&ei=utf-8&ilc=12&type=523482&p=roseola Above is a link of such a rash. ...Read more

8 month 3 weeks old baby, pink rash appeared on front torso this morning, skin feels rough, looks like roseola rash, NO fever. What could it be?

Virus: Viruses (especially the summer time viruses) can cause rashes with or without fevers. Strep can cause a rash that is rough, usually on the stomach (uncommon under age 2). Heat rash can also cause a bumpy pink rash on the abdomen. I would have the baby seen to be sure nothing serious is going on. ...Read more

I have a 2 month old baby and my friend's daughter had a fever and now a rash. Dr said roseola and she's no longer contagious.can she come visit?

Yes, and wash hands!: If your friend's daughter is no longer contagious there is no reason for her not to visit. Avoid having people that are obviously sick around the baby; however, you can't live in a bubble. All contact carries some risk of transmission of a communicable illness (often before the person knows they are getting sick) - wash hands well and relax a bit. Has your baby had their 2 month vaccinations? ...Read more

My granddaughter (16 mo) diagnosed roseola or fifths. I have an itchy rash on arms and neck and had fever blister. Any connection?

My granddaughter (16 mo) diagnosed roseola or fifths. I have an itchy rash on arms and neck and had fever blister. Any connection?

No connection: Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is the most frequent cause of roseola.?Roseola classically begins with three to five days of fever that may exceed 40ºC (104ºF); as the fever abates, a blanching macular or maculopapular rash develops, starting on the neck and trunk and spreads to the face and extremities. It is self limited and benign. I do not believe your symptoms are caused by Roseola! ...Read more

So after 4 days of fever my 7 month old daughter has roseola. What should I do? How long does this last?

You are over worst: Once the rash appears, the worst of the illness is already over and done with. As you saw, baby usually has pretty high fever for a few days, then the fever breaks and the rash appears. Now is no longer contagious, and nothing you need to do anymore. The rash will fade on its own in a couple of days. One childhood illness down - ? Many to go! ...Read more

Is roseola no longer contagious once the rash has come out?

Is roseola no longer contagious once the rash has come out?

More or less: Since this virus is contagious before the fever or rash occurs great efforts to exclude the kid from contact with others is not very helpful. They can return to day care or school 24-48 hrs after the fever is gone even if some rash persists. Routine efforts to limit exposure to saliva should continue as it would before the illness. ...Read more
