Why does minoxidil make my head itch only when i apply it? It only happens right after i get out of the hot shower too.

Damp not wet: Apply after your warm shower. If you towel dry your hair to remove all free standing water and then apply to a warm damp scalp with occlusion (shower cap) you will have optimized absorption. However you may experience adverse symptoms and should stop if you feel your heart racing, lightheaded, or dizzy. BTW package instructions are to apply to a dry scalp. If so blow dry to warm scalp ...Read more

I use minoxidil 5% for my hair but it grows hair on my cheeks, front, eyebrows .. is it because I don't cover my head after applying it ? thank you

I use minoxidil 5% for my hair but it grows hair on my cheeks, front, eyebrows .. is it because I don't cover my head after applying it ? thank you

When you stop using: it, it stops growing hair! So, unless the minoxidil is running down your face while you use it, it should just help locally on your scalp. It won't by itself also increase facial hair. Also the quality of hair is fine and not thick, lustrous hair that is grown. So, if normal facial hair (coarse) is appearing, it may not be because of Minoxidil. See your doctor to examine this for sure. ...Read more

Long term use best: Use the 2% foam, as it tends to have fewer side effects. Minoxidil is very good at slowing/preventing further hair loss. Some men get very nice increases in density although this is less predictable. Unfortunately, when you stop using it, it stops working and hair loss will resume. It has been very safe in long term use for many patients however. ...Read more

5% minoxidil: Rogain or Minoxidil is found in solution and foam forms, both branded and generic. For patients with male or female pattern baldness, i recommend the 5% strength. I only encourage the lower strength if patients are starting to grow hair in areas that the product is not being applied to. Ex: a woman starts to see hair on her upper lip after using on her scalp. Reduce the strength to 2-3%. ...Read more

Should i take head bath daily if using minoxidil. if so, which shampoo is good?

Should i take head bath daily if using minoxidil. if so, which shampoo is good?

Probably not: unless your hair becomes dirty or you've been perspiring a lot. Most specialists recommend shampooing hair 2-3 times per week instead of daily if possible if you are losing hair excessively. Over shampooing can dry the scalp. Nizoral (ketoconazole) shampoo has helped some with hair loss also. Biotin supplements too. If your hair loss is patchy, you should see your Dr to rule out other causes. ...Read more

Alopecia: Male pattern baldness is helped but not fully prevented by minoxidil. It takes many weeks for the benefit to be clear. There is another treatment that is additive to help prevent male pattern baldness - the pill finasteride (1mg). Marketed as Proscar for prostate cancer (5mg pills can be split in 4) , or as Propecia for baldness treatment. Both treatments have to be continued indefinitely. ...Read more

Hi, i have been using hydroquinone . i wantto take a break. please advise me with some other skin lightening agent?

I suggest nothing: In the dominent culture of the United States, which is what most of the world usually follows, pressuring someone to change their natural skin color is considered to be the height of backwardness and ignorance. That stuff is likely to disfigure you, and to what purpose? Anyone worth knowing / loving doesn't care at all about your skin tone, and workplace discrimination is utterly illegal. ...Read more
