Get a follow- up: A follow-up test for GC is best. Sometimes people become carriers. Rocephin (ceftriaxone) is the treatment of choice. It is a cephalosporin, not a penicillin, so it is usually safe to use on a person allergic to penicillin. Be sure to check for other STD now and in the future. Rocephin (ceftriaxone) im works on staphylococcus angine. If yes after how many shots symptoms and fever will get better? When to decide to switch to IV rocephin (ceftriaxone)?

Bacteria sensitivity: Just because you have an identification of the bacteria, a sensitivity test must be done if you want to know if a particular antibiotic will work on it. Bacteria are very smart and can mutate, and some types of this staph may not be sensitive to rocephin (ceftriaxone). If it is sensitive, it depends on the extent and site of the infection as to how long it takes to get better and to decide if you need it iv. ...Read more

I have infected renal cyst (aspirated) e coli also a perinephric abscess. I have been on rocephin (ceftriaxone) for 4 weeks. How long should treatment last?

Need more info: Ceftriaxone is good therapy if the e. Coli is sensitive in vitro, the abscess has been drained, and the precipitating cause removed. 4-6 weeks of treatment is appropriate, but before dcing therapy need WBC count, esr, CRP and results of imaging studies in follow-up. Consult with your urologist, infectious diseases doctor or both. Hope this is cured soon. ...Read more

Can rocephin (ceftriaxone) cause anaphylactic shock if you are given a large dose and allegergic to penicillin how much could cause that?

Rocephin (ceftriaxone) allergy: Rocephin (ceftriaxone) belongs to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics. Cephalosporins are chemically related to penicillin and have been shown to cross react in individuals allergic to penicillin in 5-7% of patients. The reactions can vary from hives and itching to throat closing and anaphylactic shock. Giving Rocephin (ceftriaxone) to someone who is allergic to penicillin could result in anaphylaxis. ...Read more

How much would 2g of rocephin (ceftriaxone) for 42days cost on average without health insurance ?

Proper treatment: Try calling your Walmart Pharmacy near you - I went to GoodRx.com and found this: Walmart Pharmacy - 150 Gold Star Hwy Groton, CT (860) 449-6902. It was $9 a vial, and you'll have to multiply that out, PLUS get access to the nursing care you'll need. So $400 for the drug, then the nursing which is quite costly -and needs to be done right to avoid complications. Hopefully a doctor is managing you. ...Read more

What's the difference between a midline and PICC line? I know one is shorter than the other but why? Can 21 days of rocephin be placed in a midline?

What's the difference between a midline and PICC line? I know one is shorter than the other but why? Can 21 days of rocephin be placed in a midline?

The midline catheter: is essentially a glorified peripheral IV catheter that can be left in place for up to 30 days. Although rocephin can be administered through it, it is likely that the vein it is in will sclerose from the antibiotic within a few days necessitating replacement. Central venous administration through a PICC line will avoid this potential complication. ...Read more

Can i take Rocephin (ceftriaxone) if i'm allergic to penicillin?

Depends.: It depends how severe your reaction is and who the prescribing practitioner is. There is about a 10% cross reactivity with cephalosporins (Rocephin (ceftriaxone)) and penicillin based drugs. Usually if the reaction is minor, I will prescribe a cephalosporin like Rocephin (ceftriaxone). However, if the reaction to the penicillin based med is severe like shortness of breath, swelling or anaphylaxis I may avoid them completely. ...Read more

UTI: Rocephin (ceftriaxone) - Ceftriaxone - is a parenteral antibiotic, only can be given IV or IM. Most simple UTIs need only an oral antibiotic, and 3 days is often enough. Usually, there would be no indication for a parenteral antibiotic unless you have a complicated and/or resistant infection. In that case, you may need a longer course of treatment, too. ...Read more
