I took Robitussin (guaifenesin) for a persistent dry cough, no luck so I just took nyquil two hours later is that ok?

Yes: As long as it was plain robitussin, that's fine. Benzonatate and Nyquil cough combined isn't working. Coughed until I vomited last night. Can I mix the Rx with Robitussin DM (guaifenesin and dextromethorphan)? I don't know what to do?

M.D. follow up: I would suggest not mixing the medications. If you have a severe cough, a work up to include a screening for Pertussis and Asthma is suggested. A nasal saline rinse helps to reduce post nasal drip and cough.

Is it safe to take nyquill 4hours after robitussin (guaifenesin)?

Is it safe to take nyquill 4hours after robitussin (guaifenesin)?

If used correctly: If one is using nyquil and "plain" Robitussin (guaifenesin) correctly, following the packages' instructions, and has not had any problems from either medication alone, then one would expect no problems from taking them together (at the same time or at different times). The nyquil does not have the same ingredients as plain Robitussin (guaifenesin) has, so one would not be doubling up on an ingredient. ...Read more
