Ritalin (methylphenidate): Doubt that you suffered a myocardial infarction. Also, can't tell you in retrospect if you had severe elevations of blood pressure. But please do let the prescribing physician/ psychiatrist know about this effect promptly. ...Read more

What can I do to stop chest pains?

Treat the source: There are many causes of chest pain. If from GI tract may respond to antacids or otc med like Prilosec or zantac (ranitidine). Inflammatory pain (pleurisy, costochondritis, pericarditis) will respond to anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen. Heart pain will respond to nitroglycerine. See you doctor to determine the source of your chest discomfort, and he/she will recommend appropriate treatment. ...Read more

Concerning: With chest pain that persists, you should go to the Urgent Care or ER as soon as possible. AT your age, you may be just having a panic attack or "heartburn" (Gastroesophageal reflux). After history and exam, you may need tests like an ecg and holter or event monitor to see what's going on when you try to go to sleep.
