Risk Of Multiple Births Iui
Absotutely: Every risk in a singleton pregnancy is higher with twins. Risk of miscarriage, genetic abnormalities in a child, and even though small, the risk of one baby not surviving. Risks to mother of hypertension and diabetes are much higher. And the risk of early delivery is much higher. Even though twins generally do well, many twins do not. So it is always medically preferable to have a single pregnancy. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Intrauterine insemination (iui) is where fresh or frozen partner or donor sperm is prepared or 'washed' to increase the sperm quality then gently injected through your cervix after a speculum exam, like a pap smear exam. It should be painless or cause mild cramping only. Iui helps with mild to moderate sperm problems. Iui preparations should have at least 2 million moving ...Read more
No reason to worry: An interracial baby has no reason to be less physically healthy before, during or after birth. And it is a wonderful thing that social acceptance has improved greatly in recent decades so that the child has a greatly reduced risk of social stigma. However, it is still not zero. Of course children face bullying for a variety of reasons, so this may not even add to that concern. Congratulations! ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

Age, STDs, smoking: Women's ovarian reserve (egg numbers and quality) starts to decline from mid 20's on average, and fastest by the 40's. If chances of conception increase in 2 embryo transfer IVF Why doc recomend single embryo?what are risks of 2 embryo apart from twins?
It's all about twins: Twins are a little bit trickier pregnancy. Twinning with 2 embryos is as high as 20-30%. In the US the ASRM allows 1 or 2 embryos in a 29 year old woman, but recommends only one. Personally I believe this is patient's choice and do NOT recommend 1 vs. 2, but that's me. Your info says you are 29 and in the UK? I do not know the UK standard of care but the science is the same. Best wishes! ...Read more
Slightly: Statistically people with PCOS are at a slightly higher risk for miscarriage because their ovulations are not as "typical" as non-PCOS pts. If you are taking meds for your PCOS and continue them through the first trimester it can sometimes reduce your risk of miscarriage. ...Read more

Will a miscarriage with identical triplets from 8 months ago increase our chances of having another multiple birth?
No: It increases your risk of bankruptcy, at least in the US. You state that you are only 28. Have you and your spouse had a full infertility workup. In the US, unless you had your Fallopian tubes tied or scarred, no reputable Ob-Gyn would consider you as a candidate for IVF. Maybe you some other issue that you have revealed yet?? ...Read more

It occurs in about 1-5/1000 women who have had one previous c-section. The risk is increased if you have had more than one c-section or if your labor is being induced. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Clomid (clomiphene) and multiple births? What are the chances of twins with clomid (clomiphene)? I'm starting Clomid (clomiphene) and i'm not sure i want multiple births.
1.5-3%: Risk of twins with a family history is slightly increased to ~1.5-3% from baseline 1.5%. Exact risk may also be due to other factors besides family history, such as age of woman, ethnic background, baseline fsh level. However, the family history of twinning on paternal side contributes little, if any at all, since its the number of eggs released by the woman which usually determines twinning. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
Can giving multiple births through a woman's life cause her bladder to weaken and for her to lose control?
YES MOST definitely!: Yes , the probelm is the angle of yorururethra has dropped so the pressure in the bladder is greater than the urthral sphincter, so u lose urine when u cough or sneeze, etc. The good news is with a proper workup u can have a monor surgical procedure to fix the problem as it will only get worse over time so see your gyn for a workup , 1 advantage to csection - does not cause this problem. ...Read more
Is it possible to be borne with enlarged ovaries? If so what dose that means for the one that haves it, dose it means high chance of multiple birth?
I am 42 and thinking of having children, how many more are advisable to have and what is the risk if it is multiple birth?
Having kids: How many kids do you have? How many kids do you want to have? There is no advice on how many you should have. It's your preference. If you've not had any so far, it would be harder for you to conceive. The risk of "multiple births" like twins would depend on your genes and the genes of the baby's dad. If twins have been born to your ancestors, then you may have a chance to repeat that. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
It doesnt have to: Ivf, as opposed to using fertility medications with/without artificial insemination, actually gives you a lot of control over your risk of multiple pregnancy, since no matter how many embryos are made in the lab, you can always choose to transfer just one embryo into the uterus (there would still be about a 1% chance of identical twins if the embryo splits). ...Read moreSee 2 more doctor answers
Had an u/s today and md stated i had lots of follicles ... What exactly does this mean if I am ttc? Multiple birth in the cards?

Should you go on birth control just before starting IVF if you've been doing continuous failed iui's?
It depends: The decision to use birth control pills prior to an ivf cycle should be individualized. Each persons situation is different. Some women are not affected by the pills and the pills may help with scheduling. Some women may be adversely affected by being on the pills and they should be avoided. And some women will do better in ivf after being on pills. ...Read more
