I have dragged the door backwards onto my foot and it has semi-ripped my toenail off halfway but is still firmly attatched. The nail has bent backward?

See a podiatrist: First I would recommend soaking in epsom salts or salt water to help clean the area and prevent infection. Then apply an antibiotic ointment and bandage. If the nail is loose it will be painful with any pressure or movement. Very often the nail needs to be removed which is a simple procedure done after local anesthesia in a podiatrist's office. Sometimes the nail plate can be reapplied. ...Read more

My toenail is falling off. Should I rip it or leave it alone?

An injury?: If your nail is loose and coming off sometimes it is better to have it partially removed. You have to be careful that you do not do any more damage to it by catching it on your socks tearing it further.

Check with your podiatrist and make sure there is nothing else going on under the nail which caused it to come loose in the first place. ...Read more

I ripped my toenail as well as the right side of my skin, it started to bleed. 4 days later and still bloody, it is inflamed, inflation spread, why?

My toenail got ripped off and grew back short thick & yellow. What's a working cream or medicine to use for over the counter? Most effecting please!!!

The problem here: Is you need to know if the toenail became fungal or if that nail is thick for other reasons. I.e bacterial colonization or subungual keratinazation. A thick yellow stubby nail is not always fungal.
Topical meds for fungus are not highly effective either. If your inclined to try one you can but you will be applying for many months duration & 1 is not necessarily better than others. ...Read more

Keep it clean: Hello, keep your nail bed clean by washing it with warm water and soap and then applying a disinfectant. Then check to see if it is red, swollen and having pus coming out. If so then it may already be infect and may need more treatment like antibiotics. If not hygiene and covering it with clean gauze and preventing trauma to the area will suffice. ...Read more

My daughter has caught her foot under the door and ripped her big toenail bac on both sides not at the root help shall I take her to the hospital?

If she is bleeding: Or in terrible pain, yes, head to the er. But if not, i'd try calling a podiatrist first. She'll get seen faster and better if you can find a podiatrist to see her today than having her ferment in an er while all the chest pain people get bumped in front of her. Depending on how old she is, her tetanus may need updating too. Meanwhile, keep it clean and dry. ...Read more
