Itchy spot on stomach for over a year. Appeared at first to be ringworm, but it has faded over time, though still itchy.

Not related: Ringworm is a superficial fungal infection of the skin, treated with topical creams, such as clotrimazole or terbinafine. An upset stomach can be caused by indigestion, viral or bacterial infections, treated with diet and occasionally antibiotics (H. Pylori) or by parasites, which would need specific treatment (for worms, albemdazole or others). ...Read more
Hi, I have ringworm-like rashes on my back, chest and stomach. What could be the problem as the numbers keep growing? Awino
I have pneumonia. My only symptom was sharp abdominal pain. I read it could be caused by fungus. Could I have gotten it from my rabbit's ringworm?
Unlikely: Abdominal pain can be a presenting symptom of pneumonia, as the process can prevent normal intestinal motility just beneath the breathing muscle (large intestine).Pneumonia is generally viral or bacterial. Fungal pneumonias are rare and usually only affect people with compromised immune systems. The rabbits ringworm would not be the type of fungus that causes pneumonia. ...Read more
Is lotrimin as strong as lamisil (terbinafine) in treating ringworm? And is it ok to use lotrimin 1% on my 4mo old baby. It looks like she has it on her stomach.
Yes&yes but only if: Lotrimin is an over-the-counter brand of clotrimazole which is an antifungal. While Lotrimin doesn't have specific adult vs pediatric guidelines, clotrimazole is approved for use in children. However, it's best to have your infant evaluated to confirm your suspicions. Lamisil is an OTC brand of terbinafine which is also an antifungal but only approved topically for children older than 12yo. ...Read more
Ringworm all over back and stomach. Been treating it for about 3 days now with clotrimazole 1%. I'm a flight attendant- is it safe for me to go fly?
Flying with fungus: Ringworm is a fungal infection that is not transmitted from person to person, so you do not have to worry about giving it to someone else. One usually gets it from animals. Most ringworm infections are focal, i.e. one or two lesions, and not spread all over the stomach and back. Make sure that your diagnosis is correct and your treatment is correct. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I've been treating an abdominal rash that seem to be ringworm with OTC clotrimazole for three weeks, it doesn't seem to have changed much. What next?
Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. Since you did the appropriate treatment based on your judgement and it did not work, it would be prudent to see your doctor now. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer

I have a large, ringworm type patch on my neck. I have been using anti-fungal cream hasn't worked. I also have smaller bumps on my stomach and back area?
Woke up with red spots over my stomach (about 8). Not grouped together or anything. Some resemble tiny ringworm & others are red bumps and itchy.
Bites?: Without a full history and exam of these lesions it is only speculation, but if you awoke with these it seems likely that you were either bitten by something or that this was a contact dermatitis. Cannot, however, exclude the possibility that these were caused prior to your going to sleep. See a doctor, maybe a dermatologist. ...Read more

Pityriasis rosea?: Rashes are difficult to describe in words. A primary care doctor or a dermatologist can examine a peach spots rash to see what it might be. Sometimes rashes are related to viruses, allergies, medications, etc., but many times they are not. For odd rashes, skin biopsy may be done by a dermatologist. One should bring to the doctor a list of all medications used in the month before the rash appeared. ...Read more

2 non itchy rash. First rash all over my stomach and arms looks like ringworm for a month. Second a cluster of buttons (back) new. What can this be?
I was prescribed two weeks of oral Terbinafine for a persistent case of ringworm. I finished taking it two weeks ago. I'm still experiencing gas that causes discomfort between stomach/liver until I belch, and mild fever. Do I need my liver checked?
Wrong question: In the first place "ringworm" is not a medical diagnosis. Terbinafine is very effective for dermatophyte infections. Most diagnoses of "ringworm" are by Drs who are naive about skin conditions, diagnosing fungus when it is actually not. WHAT HAPPENED to your "case of persistent ringworm"? Symptoms now are not related to terbinafine 2 weeks ago. Get diagnosed first, then check gall bladder, etc. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
I have several heart shaped rashes on my arms and one on my stomach. I've tried all kinds of ringworm creams assuming that's what it is. Left scars?
Hard to say: A common truism about treatment is when appropriate measures don't fix a problem the diagnosis is likely wrong. Skin rashes can represent infections, local reactions, allergies or systemic illness. Diagnosis is often easy when seen by a trained observer. If your treatment for ringworm isn't working it is likely not ringworm. To find out what it is and treatment options will need a visit. ...Read moreSee 1 more doctor answer
