I have a skin infection that had been going on for a while and it's getting worse, I think it's ring worm but I'm not sure.
Hard to say: Hard to say much without more detailed history and a photo. If you think it looks like ringworm and you don't have a fever or rapidly progressing rash, try an over the counter antifungal for a week. Generic Clotrimasole will work. Continue for several weeks twice a day until clear. If at any point it worsens again, you will need to be seen. I hear great things about your health system! ...Read more
I have a skin infection. It itches very bad And seems to spread. Some say its ring worm. I use withfield ointment but does not help. Your thoughts?
See a dermatologist: Your question is too vague. Infection??? Where? How long? Etc., etc. Whitfield ointment is an old prescription for certain dermatophyte infections. Dermatologists abandoned it 50 years ago in favor of much more effective remedies. For best result you must begin with a diagnosis. "A skin infection" does not define anything. Try again with the DETAILS. ...Read more

Unfortunately without seeing the lesion and getting more of a history it is difficult to say. If it is itchy then it could be a fungus or a dermatitis/allergy from exposure to an allergen. You could always try an over the counter anti-fungal cream like Clotrimazole twice a day for a few weeks. If that does not work see a doctor.
Good luck. ...Read more
My 9 old month baby boy has some red spots (looks like ring worm like) on his penis, balls and on top of his private area skin.?
Yeast perhaps?: The diaper area, being generally warm and sometimes moist, is an area that can develop yeast infections of the skin, even in boys. Ringworm, caused by a different fungus, could also affect this area. Unfortunately, these aren't the only 2 things that could cause what you describe. You could try an anti-fungal cream and see if it helps. If he's really uncomfortable, i'd seek medical attention. ...Read more
