When I lay down the left side of neck and chest hurt! It's dull and sharp! Also when I drink it hurts pretty bad and when I take deep breaths pain!!

Injury?: If there's no chance that you've injured yourself (?), meaning a muscular or skeletal contusion or fracture, the next most likely cause is pleurisy. If you have fever, it is more serious as that would suggest parenchymal lung involvement. If you have no fever, NSAIDs like Advil or Aleve (naproxen) are a good treatment. Hmmmmm.: perhaps it is a neck muscle spasm. spasms can be very painful; try some moist heat, perhaps some gentle stretching, and gentle massage. Not sure why it is worse when you breath in. As with anything else, if it persists, becomes very severe, or you develop shortness of breath, see your physician. ...Read more

Ice or heat,rest: pain that occurs with breathing in can be Pleurisy, where lining of lungs are inflamed & breathing in is painful. Also pain could be due to muscle spasm, paraspinal muscles along the spine can spasm, along with muscles left side of neck, causing pain. Rest & take it easy, try OTC aleve (naproxen) 1 tablet with food twice daily for a few days, see MD if no better. Physical Therapy helpful if muscle spasm ...Read more

Throat pain, HeadA: Throat pain with Headache can be due to: virus, flu (usually have muscle aches), bacteria (see your MD to rule out Strep throat, for instance). Sharp pain with deep breath could be due to: virus, bacteria (ie, pneumonia); if any previous trauma: broken ribs, pneumothorax (in your case depending on history very unlikely).
